I've got a 1.6, K:5838, xbox that was softmodded by someone else. The files that were used are: UDE2, PBL Metoo, Evox M8. The box has a 300GB HD. F: drive (no G: ). F: is configured to use all remaining space (when it was working... I recall that F: was 270 or so GB).

The problem is that once the F: drive gets almost full (maybe 15GB or so left), files on F: get corrupted or disappear completely. (Note that everything works fine until I start filling the disk... all the available space shows up correctly in file manager... backups work fine.., etc.).

I know how to get the F: drive reformatted... but how do I keep the corruption from happening? (It's happened twice now... the first time, I just thought it was a fluke).

I've been reading about BIOS mods (I suspect this is a BIOS related problem)...
Right now... I've got a box with an F: drive that shows about 1GB free... but shows no files (corrupt and needs to be reformatted).

... I bow to the experts for advice... Rolling Eyes

Now generally, I'd say that softmods are just that, a modding of the operating system that allows you to do the things that you are doing today with your Xbox. So I am confused as to how the M8 bios figures in to the picture unless your box is chipped. One doesn't normally (there are always exceptions) change the actual bios of the Xbox unless a chip is installed.
It would sound more to me like the HDD may be in the infant stages of failing.

So.. before I posted, I spent quite a bit of time trying to find the answer for myself. I ran across a few postings saying that BIOS changes don't apply to softmods... so I was a little surprised too when I saw the M8 part of the instructions... but that's just what it says:
- install UDE2
- install PBM Metoo
- install Evox M8
- install Evox
These options are being chosen from a menu that's brought up after loading "linux" from the Splinter cell <save game menu?>.

I'd agree with your comment about the drive... but it's only the F: partition that's having the problem... and only when it nears capacity. The box was running just fine for quite a while... it wasn't until recently, when I started backing up more games that I managed to nearly fill it (and corrupt the partition).

So.. more questions... I'm guessing that the virgin BIOS does not support 300GB HD's... so what's supporting the addressing of the large drive?... the UDE2 part of the mod? Would one of the other mods (UXE?) support HD's differently?
