A friend has given me an Xbox that has been "tampered with" when it is connected and powered on the light on the front flashes red and green with no video output. the dvd drawer will open. after looking on the net I found that the fault could be with the eeprom. can i get a fix from anywhere. Thanks.

Not giving much to go on.
If it was my machine, here is what I would do.
I would get a cheap mod chip and pop it in just to see what it would do. Now, that won't help an eeprom issue, but if it's a TSOP issue...it can overcome that.
If you are truly experiencing a EEPROM issue, then you can always install a new eeprom. I have personally never had to do one, but am positive you will find a tutorial or two.

i've also run into an issue where the flash bios memmory bank was fried ... and if this is so (if you have a 1.0 xbox) then you can just jump one wire on the bottom of the mobo and it will load to a different bank and it might load up fine. if not, then you probably have a eeprom failure and should follow ICe's instructions _________________ Blue Chaos
