How would I go about completely restoring my xbox to the default MS Dash and settings?
Also, is there a good way to use my old 300gb drive in a new xbox while retaining all my files? I assumed it wouldnt work because of different eeproms....

First off...what softmod is installed on your xbox? There are a few different approaches you can take.
If you are going to pull the hdd and use it somewhere else (pc or another xbox), be sure to unlock it first.
To put it in another xbox you will need the eeprom from that box. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

SID4.5 with XBMC.... so I will have to softmod my new xbox and then get the eeprom, then, using linux copy the eeprom.bin file from the new xbox to the old, unlocked HDD?
To restore the xbox to the nonmodded state I can just do 'remove softmod' and 'install ms dash 5960'? right?

Right.
Use the eeprom file with xboxhdm v1.9.
Create a bootable disc with the m$dash files and the eeprom file. You will be able to build the files system on the hdd and lock it to the eeprom afterwards.
