A little about my system. I've had it since the day Xbox came out. It has had many many hours of play it. I am pretty much the only person I know that doesn't have a modded Xbox because I didn't want to get banned from Live. Now that I don't play Live really anymore I would like to do this.

before i take the road of modding my xbox, I first have a few questions...

- If I do buy a mod chip and install a new hard drive, is there any way I can keep all the saved games that are on my Xbox right now? I don't know what I'd do if I lost more than 5 years of saved games.

- Since my Xbox is so old will it be harder to use the more modern chips?

- I've read all your "NOOBS PLEASE READ" threads: I am an electronic warfare technicial in the US Air Force so I know how to solder very well. Would it be better to get a solderless chip or not? and What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

- How much can I expect to be spending from start to finish on this whole modding process?

Thanks

There are ways of transferring gamesaves with a modded xbox of course, you can get gamesave managers to transfer the gamesaves from your xbox to pc.

Modchips these days will work on xboxes like mine which is the first version to come out which is a 1.0 to a new xboxs that are a 1.6c, and since your xbox is old it will be the easiest to mod but these days they are basically all easy to mod. A solderless chip is a very quick install and theres less of a chance of getting solder splashes on the board or burning the traces off, but its user preference wether you do it or not.

As for the cost of modding an xbox depends on the harddrive and size of harddrive you want to get and what chip you want to get basically, if your a good bargin hunter and you get a cheap harddrive and cheap mod chip it can run you anywhere from 50 to 70 dollars or If you get a good mod chip and a real big harddrive it can run you over a 100 easily.

Edit: If you want recommendations just let me know.
