Ok here is the deal.

I will post this elsewhere also because it will probably be solved faster that way....once I solve it I will post how (and give credit...lol for what it is worth Smile)

xbox- I have avalaunch v0.49.3 with dvd2xbox
PC- Windows XP

Sorry if this is long and probally a bit confusing but sometimes to smallest thing makes the difference and I have no exp. networking.

I think it probably the network because everything else seemed fine (see below). I have a local area connection on my computer and that is all (though later I tried to make a home or small office network in order to cover that possibility).

After reading the other topics I reloaded my dashboard (avalaunch v0.49.3), the bottom left says 192.168.0.180 (Naturally I knew this was the IP) and the time, the bottom right says "Alpha v0.49.3 " (and below that "Load: 0 users") which changes to "Connecting to www.xbox-scene.com" and then "Connecting to www.xbins.org" and then stays at "Alpha v0.49.3".

Now that I know the IP of my xbox use the saves manager (xbox saves manager version 4.5.1) and try to connect (using the IP I got of course). It failed to connect so I tried on dvd2xbox (with the setting on dvd2xbox/settings/network all turned to yes). After this I tried using windows explorer but it "timed out" [I tried "ftp://xbox@192.168.0.180" (Thanks dangermouse at xbox-hq for that idea)]. Over the next hour I experimented with network connections, shared folders etc etc etc.

Anyway I am out of ideas!

*If you think it might be the hub....*

I decided the hub was not to blame, I may be wrong so here is what I did to arrive at that conclusion.

The internet his hooked up to a hub with 4 ports, 3 ports go to other computers...and the 4th goes to another hub which I have my xbox and computer hooked up to (as well as my sisters computer). I tried using the hub with only my comp and xbox as well as different ports in case one wasn't working...etc etc. I tried all afore mentioned on avalaunch and dvd2xbox (with the setting on dvd2xbox/settings/network all turned to yes).

I doubt it is the xbox because reading this forum sounds like it works for all of you and mine seems to work fine also.

So do you mean your xbox cant access the internet?? Or you cant FTP into your xbox??

Im not sure what your saying..

If you xbox cant get onto the internet you need to make sure your XBOX and PC have exactly the same DNS settings..

Check your pc settings and then make sure your XBOX DNS is matched..

then hopefully you should be able to see the net from your xbox.

another tip.. Try turning off your windows firewall.. Occassionally this can cause someissues.

ummmm that would be helpfull...but I guess he is using a different program cause I can't change my xbox ip...

- If your PC has a IP ADDRESS of 192.168.0.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0 your xbox would be: 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.3 or any other ip address in the similar range.. It could even be 192.168.0.200 if you wanted.
- If your PC has a SUBNET MASK of 255.255.255.0 then your xbox should be exactly the same..
- Same goes for DNS Servers.. You have to copy down the pc info and put into your xbox.

Can't.... but if I could...souds like it would work....is there a different program I should use on my xbox?...I can still transfer using cds in the mean time I would guess
