HI!
I've just received a modded xbox from a friend that i want to use to run XBMC and GentooX. I have as well a 200GB Seagate HD that i want to install in it. Problem is i don't know what modchip the XBOX has installed, my friend doesn't know as he bought it premodded in 2004. What i can tell about it is that when the xbox boots, it shows XECUTER2 in the bottom of the screen, when i check the bios version, it shows X2 4976.02 256. The Dashboard is EvolutionX V 3921.
Please, help me figure out what is my modchip and what i need to install the 200 gigger. Thanks in anvance.

That is correct. You could always put in the 4983, it handles HDD's extremely large drives well. The only way you'll know what chip is installed, is to crack the box open and take a peek. There is no way for software to tell you, unless of course it has it's own operating system like the Xenium. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

So that means that the bios i have can handle the 200GB without a problem and without having to flash a new bios?? And one more thing, does the 256 after the bios number means that is the size of the bios, as there are 512 and 1mb?

The bios you have currently can't handle more than 137MB. It's not LBA48 capable like the 4983.
You are correct that the 256 is the size and the 1MB is the same thing.
I tend to simply recommend the 256 since all chips can handle that size, but all chips can't handle 1MB. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Great, thanks a lot. I'll flash my bios to 4981.67 as i can't find the 4983 in 256KB.
