im using the tutrial here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=496263&mode=threaded and i do everything but i keep getting an error 5 what is that help


im making an hd from scracth 80 gb my original hd broke dont know how just did i got my kernel number though and dash board number before it bricked

What you need is the eeprom from the xbox. If you haven't got a back up of that, you will have to chip your box.

Softmodded boxes require a hdd to be locked to it's eeprom. That's the reason you are getting the 5 error.

The only way to retrieve the eeprom is to have a modded box.
