I have an upgraded hd that is messed up right now. I was messing around with the c drive and overwrote the xboxdash.xbe file so now I'm getting an error 13 everytime I try to start it up. I have the splinter softmod stuff and modded my retail hd. I was wondering how I could ftp on my upgraded hd again. Hotswap is not an option because I have sata on my comp. Btw, my xbox has an external ata cable so i can swap hd anytime without having to open up my xbox, maybe that could help?

if u can still load up your softmod game exploit u can ftp from there.....just check the ip address and input it on your ftp program and ftp like normal....better yet load your retail HDD and ftp out your entire c:/ drive and ftp it to your upgraded HDD through your SID installer with your game exploit...assuming both your HDDs are modded excatly the same...hope this helps

no i ment put your retail HDD back into your xbox...then FTP the c:/ folder out into your computer...once thats done reinstall your upgraded HDD and FTP your c:/ folder contents back into the c:/ of your upgraded HDD...since u stated that u also softmodded your retail HDD you should be able to do this....sorry if i was unclear about this...

I would ftp to my upgraded hd if i can, but i can't even boot it right now. The upgraded hd doesn't have the SID installer on it, so i can't boot my game exploit.

well because u do not have the exploit on our upgraded HDD u wil have to hotswap it. since u still have your retail HDD u should be able to get your factory c:/ files and put them on your upgraded HDD with hotswaping
heres the tut incase u don't know how
HOTSWAP:recover a hd without eeprom backup
Needed Tools:
- xboxhdm 1.9
- Torx 10 And Torx 20 Screwdrivers - To Open XBOX
- A PC(remove all hd's) ,blank CD-R/W and A CD Burner
- DVDdecryptor (http://www.dvddecrypter.com)
- C drive backup or latest MS dash
' Make sure the xbox and pc are close to echother '
Steps:
1. if you got a backup of your c you don't need to download latest msdash, if you don't got a backup download ms dash and keep it ready on your pc.
2. unpack xboxhdm onto your pc .
3. put ms dash in the C folder into the xboxhdmlinux folder and overwrite the ones already there.
4. In the root of xboxhdm is a file named 'make-iso-win', run this file and wait for it to finish.
5. It will make a .iso file. (burn this file with dvddecryptor), put the cd in the pc .
6. unplug the XBOX DVDROM IDE cable, take the power cable off the dvd-rom.
7. Turn on the PC, Before the PC BIOS looks for hard drives, hit the Pause/Break key. It should pause at this time.
8. Turn on the Xbox .
9. It will boot to an error code(nr 11) regarding the dvd-rom, but the hdd will be unlocked, this way you'll get xboxhdm to access it on first attempt Now remove ide from hd and swap it to the pc. (if it doesn't work wait until the "Microsoft" logo appears at the bottom of the screen then pull the IDE cable)
10. Hit space bar to continue booting the PC. If it takes a long time to boot (several minutes), then the HD has not been unlocked.
11. you will get a menu, now choose Option 1 (by typing ‘1’) and press enter to boot VGA console with xbox-drive utilities (default). Type ‘xboxhd’ when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says ‘Build a new Xbox HD from scratch’) and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc. when it asks you about C type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes .
12. power down pc and xbox.
13. put the hd ide cable back in the xbox and boot.
Nice you just recovered your hard drive !!!
PS if you get a msg about a frozen drive , just disable auto detect for the drive (xboxhdm will detect the hd even if it's disabled!)
cheers
pirrup

Hotswap requires a pc with ide cable right? If so then I can't use my comp to do it. I only have sata. I'll try to use my friend's comp then...

well error 21 isn't too bad but since u don't have to game exploits (very inportant to have) on your upgraded HDD u must hotswap again...sorry....i've had that problem before i installed the "MS Dash" from the AID disc and got the same error...luckly i had the exploits...but anyways the "Ms Dash" on the aid disc is a hacked dash and will not work unless patched...(not sure about how to do that) but if u can load up the AID disc then FTP the xbox through the AID disc, then FTP your msdash in you'll be fine. don't use the "Install MS Dash" on the aid disc....heres a link to a factory msdash

Ok I hotswapped it again. Ms dash loaded up fine after that. Softmodded it again. Works fine too. Everything was working great...except when I check my games on F drive nothing is there. But when I press the open button on my xbox to boot up the exploit (dual boot obviously), I could clearly see all my games and files in there. What do I need to do to see my games when booting up everything the regular way?

wat do u mean by ".....booting up everything the regular way?...." do u mean booting to the MS Dash or booting to your modded dash?...and also wat dash are u using?....if your games aren't showing then i think its just a bug in your .ini file but i'll need to know wat dash u are using first hopefuly its EVOX because thats what i use...if its anything else i will not be able to assist because i''ve never used any of the other dashboards...but if it is EVOX that u are using its fairly simple to fix. oh and another thing...when u did the hotswap most likely u were not able to fit your games on the hotswaping disc....if u formated your F:/ then there won't be any games...u have to make copys again... so i think your F;/ drive is empty thats the main reason its not showing.

Well I'm using unleashed, but I could always softmod it again for evox...anyways when I said "boot everything the regular way", I meant booting up the xbox using unleashed, but it doesn't show my games in F drive, but when I boot it up by pressing the open button, it'll load up my exploit and my games and applications are there in the F drive.

yeah i think its just an error in your .ini file but before u resoftmod FTP your xbox and check your F:/ drive make sure your games are present. If they are then it has to be the .ini resoftmod with EVOX it should fix the problem. have it to where it will boot up to evox by press the "power button" and boot to the exploit by pressing the "Eject" button. the evox ini is already set to look for games in your E,F, and G drives so once that is installed u should be good to go. same goes for apps.

I'm sorry I don't really get you lol. What .ini file are you talking about? And where is it located? What do I need to do with it?
