I know there are desoldering pens that people seem to like a lot...personally I have used desoldering braid and it worked pretty well...just put the braid (sort of like string) on the part you want to desolder....put your soldering iron on it and bam it sucks the solder right into the braid...just don't be stingy with the braid....costs about a dollar or so at radio shack...so if you don't feel like waiting until monday then give that a shot...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Sorry bandit, I don't really do much with chips, the one I have is an xenium ice, I used a solderless install and that's about the most experience I have with chips, I don't have a programmer or anything. I would help you if I had the tools and/or knowledge but I just don't have either when it comes to the x2.6. But from what I've read a simple programmer is all that is needed, maybe someone around the south east will have one you can use, or worst case scenario desolder the chip and send it to someone who has the programmer and get them to flash it, getting someone else to flash it gets into a little fuzzy territorry though so I'm not sure about recommending that action. _________________

I'm planning on sending moddingbandit a HDD from a 1.6b xbox, but when I tested the HDD on my chipped 1.0 I got a error code 6 which would be that it couldnt unlock the HDD so would that mean that he wouldnt beable to use that, I'm not sure but I think that his motherboard would only work with the HDD that came with it, so if that wouldnt work would I (or have him) beable to somehow hookup both HDDs to his computer and use something like norton ghost to copy the contents of the locked HDD that I'm sending him over to the HDD that came with his xbox. Or would we have to come up with some other plan to fix the xbox?
Or if any retail Xbox HDD will work would I beable to send him one from a 1.0 or a 1.6, or a 1.4 if I can find it

I was planning on sending you the HDD to a 1.0 and a copy of norton ghost to copy the files from one HDD to the other, but if you want to try to send it out this way I'll see what I can do.
But if your going to send it out to someone I would recomend sending it to someone who has a Xentium chip so they can try the HDD copy to get it up and running again
And I would wait to see if that is going to work before I tried resoldering the chip

Im hoping the board is NOT damaged but that really doesnt matter because you could softmod it anyway either way as long as it boots..
It sounds like you do need to shoot it off to another xbox modder that can double check the connections and hopefully repair it for ya with the existing chip..
EIther way youll get your xbox up and running whatever road you go down..
With a modchip fitted sometimes you can even get a locked hdd to run in another xbox.. Its worked for me once that i can confirm hands on.

Thanks everyone for the support. Well I just got with my teacher, but I found out it was a cold solder. Only two of the points were actually connected. But now I am getting a weird problem. My teacher resoldered them all and it seemed all right, but when I turned my xbox back on it would turn on for a second and then shut off then turn back on then go off again. I dont think enough power is getting to it or its another bad solder I am missing. My teacher asked me for a tutorial that came with it and there was none I told him. So I have to find one precisely for the LPC Rebuild with each point correctly done and written out, bc he needs step by step instructiona so as not to fry my mobo. I hope its not already, but all your help so far has been great guys. Hopefully after tomorrow, this will be done. I will now stick to solderless only (shoulda used the Xapt3r lol)

my 2 cents...and a few questions...
is the xbox a 1.6 flash bios 3.03 would'nt boot on my 1.6 xbox. it would just frag. flashbios 3.01 worked like a charm, even know i did'nt flash that way. it was to just check my install. when i purchessed my x2.6ce the programer came with it. it was a package deal.
also the chip wont boot with out the external switch attached. so make sure the the switch is attached when testing. the x2.6ce should of have flash bios 3.03 on bank1 and 3.01 on bank2 when you bought it unless it was messed with. if you use the programer to flash it make sure your use a older os windows xp wont detect the chip.
when you flash the chip if its a 1.6 put the x2_5035 bios on bank2. there has been alot of people including myself with problems were the dashboard would boot, but when you try to launch any apps, emulators, or games from your hdd it would freeze everytime unless useing a quick launch via unleashx shortcuts.
so if your lpc rebuild/pinheader/do point is good, your switchs are set to, (chip on, bank2, flash protect off)..and it dose'nt boot to flashbios 3.01 it sounds like a bad install to me..
flashing via programer takes pretty long 25-35 mins and then about 4-13mis to verify it. seems like days if you watch it, compare to http flashing with a xecuter3.
if you need someone with a programer just to flash your chip i can do that no problem. as of trying to fix your solder job i dont know, it matters on how bad it is.your probaly better off having your teacher help you with the soldering problem as long as it seems like he knows what he's doing.
i also dont have that many post but i have a programmer, and have dealed with a xecuter 2.6ce on a 1.6. i live about 20 mins away from tampa, fl pm me if you need it flashed.
