ive tried to hotswap recover my hard drive, After i put the login i get a message of drive not found i believe is referig to the Hd but not sure. if it is should i switch the drive to master?
what else could be?

If you are doing a hotswap the jumper should be on cable select. If you are building a hdd from sractch it need to be set to master.
When you are doing the initial boot up, pause the pc while it is doing the memory check. When you boot the xbox, you'll have to unplug the IDE ribbon as soon as the light turns red. The hdd will be unlocked and the pc will be able to recgonize it. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

i tried again no luck this is the error im getting 'no disk drive found on /dev/hda(primary slave)!

Are you connecting the hdd to the middle of the ribbon? The middle port is designated as master and the end is slave.

tried hooking it in the middle but still getting the same message...
'no disk drive found on /dev/hda/(primary master)!
