So I was trying to upgrade the hard drive in a Soft modded xbox by making the eeprom on chipped xbox match the one for the soft modded xbox.
What I did was:
*A. Backup the unique info from each XBOX
1. Get Evolution X running on the VBOX by using a savehack (007/MechAssault.) Since you have access to a CHIPXBOX already, it's easy to get this info onto a memory card by FTPing into the CHIPBOX and transfering the savehack folder right to the memory card through FTP.
2. Run "Backup" through EvoX on both the VBOX and CHIPBOX and transfer the backup folders that are created on the XBOXs' C drives to your PC. Make sure you are able to identify which folder came from which XBOX.
3. This is also a good time to back up the C and E drives of the VBOX to your PC.
*B. Make the EEPROM and serial numbers of both XBOXes match:
1. Make sure you have Config Magic loaded on the CHIPBOX. Put the "eeprom.bin" file from the VBOX's backup folder into the "Data" folder of Config Magic. You'll need to overwrite or erase the one that's already in there.
2. Run Config Magic on the CHIPBOX and perform these steps in this order:
{Notice the Unique HDD Key listed)
a. Unlock HDD
b. Load EEPROM from .BIN file
{Notice the Unique HDD Key now listed... it should be different. If it's not different, the eeprom.bin from the VBOX was not properly transferred to the CHIPBOX}
c. Update XBOX EEPROM
d. Load XBOX EEPROM
e. Lock HDD
Now when I turn the chipped xbox on the light flashes green, but nothing comes on the screen. The tv screen stays blue like the xbox isn't on.
I need some serious help.
Oh yeah, I have tried booting up with the mod chip disabled and in flashbios mode. Same thing happens everytime. I have an X3 modchip in a 1.6 xbox.

Did you replace the chipped 1.6 xbox with another 1.6 eeprom??? If the softmodded xbox is a verion 1.0-1.5, the 1.6 eeprom won't work (or vice versa). _________________

No I didn't. The softmodded xbox is a 1.1. I flashed that eeprom onto the modded xbox which is a 1.6. So this means I do have to replace the motherboard...?

You could just buy the eeprom chip and solder that on there. Buy a dead motherboard and salvage the eeprom from it, that's all you would need. Just make sure it's a 1.6 ver board. Ebay is a good place to start looking... The eeprom is stores info the the xbox needs (serials, hdd key, etc) and messing with it without the proper knowledge/research can render your xbox useless. Good luck on locating that 1.6 eeprom chip. They're out there somewhere. _________________
