Hey I have a chipped xbox and my friend wants a softmod on his xbox. My friend is going to keep the factory hard drive in. I was wondering if there is a way I can use the chipped xbox to softmod my friends xbox. Can I just put his hardrive in my chipped xbox and put the slayer disc in and install evox?
Sorry but I havent been back to the modded xbox scene in a long time I dont really get this whole Softmod Installer Deluxe 3.0, SID and AID. I just kinda want to stick to what I learned awhile back. Thanks for all the help.
I would also like to say this place has grown a ton since I left.

You would have to put the chip into your friend's box to mod it.
With a softmod, the hdd is locked to the eeprom of the xbox it is sitting in. To be able to access it with a computer or an other xbox, the drive would have to be unlocked. To unlock a hdd the xbox would have to be modded.
Options:
FTP the gamesaves to your box. Load them onto a memory unit. Transfer the gamesaves to your friend's box and run the exploit.
If your chip is solderless, put your chip in your friend's box. Use AID to install the softmod files, dashboard and other apps on to his hdd.
Note:
The most current softmod is SID 4.5 (much new, and better that slayer's). It has a dual boot option for Live play. Power button boots the softmod mode. Eject button boots the retail mode (non-mod) so you can play on Xbox Live. The install is very easy.
AID3 includes it in the package as well as other usefull tools. The download also has manuals that will walk you through the install. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

Couldnt I just unlock the hard drive by turning my chipped xbox on then unplug the IDE cable and plug it into my friends xbox's hard drive. Then run SID or Slayer?

yeah but wouldnt I be unlocking the hardrive then add the explots then lock it back up?

each xbox has a unique eeprom which is married to the motherboard ... and if you unlock softmod or retail xbox then you make that xbox a brick...
dangermouse is exactly right on everything... best thing is to tell him to join here read and get 1 of the 3 exploitable games and the ar kit .

ah isnt this the same as doing it triditional way? except the ftp part?
ar kit $30 game $5-15 .... then download aid 3 ( it has everything you need) extract the download transfer the zipped sid 4.5 on to the mem card via ar software ( included in the kit) and save the exploits to his xbox run game and softmod it ...
hes gonna eventually upgrade the hd since he has the abilitiy to burn his movies to hd and his games and they run faster so theirs mearly no loading... and if he hasnt been on live on his xbox retail hd then he can upgrade it put sid 4.5 dual boot=retail and he can be playin on live with a 200gb hd or whatever size without getting ban ever ! _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Alright sorry but I dont really want to get action replay and a game but I guess I just get my friend to buy it. When I was really big on the whole xbox modding thing I heard that they were trying to make a memory card connect to a usb or something along that lines, did they ever get that to work. If they did can you direct me to the article or how they did that thanks.

Ah not soldering Im not that great at it. I was thinking more of connecting the controller up to the computer with the memcard in it. then load it off that. But I guess the team never figured out how to do it. Im still trying to find a good tut on how to softmod using 2 xboxs.

1. Power up the unmodded xbox and after the 8 seconds like other tutorial:
a. disconnect the the ide cable from the unmodded xbox and
b. power up the modded xbox (without the hdd hooked up) and put aid2 in the dvd tray
4. Once the 'flubber' animation finishes and the 'big x' comes up you will hear it access the dvd drive once it finds the dvd drive it will begin to search for a hdd. At this point plug in the ide from the modded xbox into the (now unlocked) hdd of the unmodded xbox.
5. At this point the modded xbox will be accessing the unmodded xbox's hdd.
6. aid will prepare the hd.
