lol, why would you wan to softmod a chipped box? Unless you are planning to take the chip out. _________________ Moddingbandit
I do softmods and solderless chips only. Just Pm me for details.

Yes you can. You would need AID to install the softmod and appropiate dashes.
Kind of pointless if you will be leaving the chip in it. It's a step saver if you want to prepare(softmod) a hdd. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

would SID work?
i am more familiar with softmodding than mod chips. i like to run unleashx as a dashboard- i prefer it to evox. so anyways, i've been troubleshooting a friend's box with a faulty dvd drive, running evox 3935 and chipped with xecuter2. it's my first chipped box i've worked on, and evox seems to be the only dash. i think that unleashx is much more versatile, and i know my way around it much better. basically, i don't want to screw up the box, and i know that with SID you have the choice of the two(dashes) to install.
or maybe i could just ftp unleashx to their xbox, but then how would that affect the existing bios should i make unleashx the booted dashboard...

if you're just talkin about running EvoX or UnleashX, then all you have to do is FTP over the dash files, configure your bios to look for C:\default.xbe or E:\default.xbe, or any other path you wish. (I have E:\Default.xbe set as my main and E:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe set as a backup, just in case something happens to my UnleashX .xbe file, then the bios falls back to XBMC). You CAN run a softmod with a chip, as long as it's not SID4. The chip hates the damned virtual EEPROM, gets confused and won't boot.
I've tied multiple bioses with the above scenario, and none of them like SID4 at all. Just run with SID3.11 if you're really hellbent on running your Chipped box with a softmod.
Make sure you still have your retail enabled. Booting a hacked Bios with a softmod, might have weird effects (With a Xenium @ the OS, just choose "Boot Retail Kernel-A" or with a Xecuter, just turn the chip off).
For your own sake, and to make it easier, I suggest your really look into the chip you're buying, and the Bios you're going to use. I highly, HIGHLY reccomend the X2_5035 bios for ANY chip... other than the X3, then just go with the latest buid Bios for the X3.
Xecuter went to a lot of work to make sure their X2 bios series can work with most chips. Something EvoX never did. Evox runs like SHIT on an Xecuter 2.6CE.
Experement, man. You have a chip, so not much (other than soldering wrong) can go bad. Don't be afraid, just MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH. This site has the most xbox info, ANYWHERE. Whether it's about fixing a retail box, or turning your box into the biggest Pimp media center ever created, you can do it, if you put the time into researching this site.
And as always, we're here to help. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
