I have just stuck a 200GB Maxtor in my Modded Xbox Using AID3, unleash spotted the new HD and offered to format it for me which I let it do. It now shows
C Drive 347MB
E Drive 4.5 GB
G Drive 123 GB
I take it this is similar to the Windows problem with not using Disks bigger than 127GB. Whats the Fix?
Also do I need any more partitons, I was going to install my apps to E and all games, movies and music to subfolders in G. e.g.
G:/Games
G:/Movies
G:/music.
Thanks for any help

If I recall properly, C,D,E & F combined can only handle up to a 137 gig hdd, then G does indeed need to be enabled. Without G there is a risk of corruption, so it's good that you checked in with us before continuing. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Reading the Manual, it explains how to format and setup G, but not how to create it..
Do I have to remove it from the Xbox and stick it in as a slave on a PC to Partition it, or is there some app that I can use from within AID3?
Thanks

AID 3 does it automatically.
Tell is to format a large drive and choose the selection that says F & G.
You'll be rockin with all the hdd in no time. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

In AID 3 you goto format/prepare HDD and you goto format G after thats done you goto prepare G and it will put the nessary folders that are needed, like your Apps folder, your Games folder, your Music folder, and your Videos folder. _________________

I have tried that, but currently the G drive is at 0MB, so there is nothing to Format/Repair ....

Too odd, once booted, the AID disk will show the selection for formatting and selecting a large drive F&G should format the entire disk.
What bios is in your chip or are you softmodded?
If softmodded, it may be that you don't have the 5960 dash and that may be an issue. See where I'm going with this?
Also, some bioes don't support large drives without the LBA48 hack.
Try the 4983 if you are using a bios that doesnt support large drives. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Haven't fully been able to Identify the Bois, but it id either a 1.4 or a 1.5.
Will try Formating the whole thing again and see it it sets up a G Drive.
Its hard modded with an Apache 2 chip.

Now don't get your Xbox version mixed up with the bios version.
The bios is the driver in the chip that tells the chip what it may or may not do. I wish I knew more about that Apache but odds are, you will need to flash a bios that's hacked on to it. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Just gone into tools > XBpartioner and got this message
" LBA48 info not found! Custom Partitions will not work with this BIOS.
Update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2"
So I must have to update my BIOS.
Am a bit lost now, I have confused my BIOS with my Xbox version. Will look for the latest BIOS, is it on the AID3 Disk?

Yup.
Don't worry about the latest.... slam in the 4983. It's proven and it also kills the flubber which I enjoy since I know what damn gaming system I'm on.
I also know it has what you need to make the most of that bigass hdd. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
