after softmoding my x box and a few friends xboxes
i decided to swap my retail hard drive
all went well untill time to lock it using xboxhdm1.9
disaster !!!!! the drive would not lock and a message came up about the drive being frozen
went into bios changed setting one at a time still nothing
then like a fool i did the same to my retail hd
i have back up of complete retail hd
how do you unfreeze the hd ??

I haven't used that program, so I'm not familiar with the freezing. What was the new HDD make and model by chance? Perhaps I can help once I've got that info. What command did you use to lock the HDD?
Were you in DOS or Linux? _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

theirs an auto disable funtion somewhere... ur ok its just frozen drive
here props to pirrup he told everyone...
PS if you get a msg about a frozen drive , just disable auto detect for the drive (xboxhdm will detect the hd even if it's disabled!)

reply 1.....The hd is a maxtor 80gb
the retail is a standard seagate
2....i used the lockhd -a command . after the frozen message came up i rebooted several times changing the pc bios one item at a time but still nothing doing. the xbox gives a code 5 error . i booted xboxhdm 1.9 and used linux
3....The pc is band spanking new only had it 4 weeks so still learning its system .

what pirrup is saying : when u go to the boot order turn or or disable primary master .. or hd ... xhdm1.9 will auto detect ur drive make the files and folders and then u can lock it w/out gettin the hard frozen error .. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

i experienced this same problem when i installed a new mobo into my computer. go into your PC bios. goto into CMOS and find your primary master it should be where the hard drive is. click into that and it will say auto-detect. click on auto detect and change it to NONE. now try locking your hard drive!

your able to see the drive during bootup? and your able to load xboxhdm setup for hard drive? your problem is locking hardrive? possible solution if locking is the problem......... at the end when asked are sure or ready to attempt locking? Type y..... not yes, just y and then enter. Worked 4 me and others........

so tigerwhite : what we are saying is ... if you typed yes and it froze on you then try typing y insted....
but im pretty sure that its a hd frozen thing... simple fix load your bios thing f2 or somting then look for what hd is enabled and disable primary ide hd ..... xdm will detect it and that should fix ur issue. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition
