my xbox gets fairly hot and i think it's like one of the first versions and i wanna keep it cool so i was gonna add a 12v .07a fan. it's on a cord that the power for the hard drive would plug into, then it plugs into the hard drive while another cord runs off to the fan. so what i wanna know is a: would i have any need for a fan? and b: is this method of installation safe?

just softmod... lol i was getting in the proces of adding a fan w/blue leds and its 80 mm and requires a bit of cutting the hd tray so it gets a good fit... so yep this means open xbox up...
so what you wanna do is softmod it or just upgrade the cable which is the 12vlt .... keep in mind that this cable makes ur fan go to 100% full capacity and WILL NOT! damge it but its going to be a bit noiser... but its not really noisy when you play somthing or watch a movie....
but i would softmod it , theirs soo many features with little cost in investment... but ill be breif on it ... you would need 1 of of these 3 fun exploitable games... 007 auf sc or ma ... i really love agent under fire and it seems very easy to me but its up to you.. price range 5-15 dollars and also you need a way to transfer files between pc and xbox ... this is called action replay ... cost about $30 .. it has a 8mb mem card !!! and a usb to mem card cable and the software....
once you have those files you can get sid 4.5 sid = softmod installer deluxe , and you can even play on xbox live and with out getting ban ever!.... yep this is or was 1 of the reasons xbox users didnt wanna mod ... but not any more...!
fun of having a softmod xbox???? its totaly reverable incase u have a warrnty or somting... its fast and extreamly easy and fianly you can play classic games on your xbox.. yep this means super mario world donkey kong and all those old games that are on reg nes super nes n64 ps1 and soo much more.. this is called emulator....
thas 1 good thing... other thign? backup ur games on your hd so you keep ur originals from getting scratch... and it even loads faster!....
you can watch movies w/out the dvd playback kit... ( which cost abot $30 ) you can also do pretty much anything with xbmc = xbox media center.... AND SOO MUCH MORE .... but this just a breif info....

or do like i did i had a usb thumd drive i made a adapter out of a spare dongle cable for xbox contoller and a extra usb extension cable and used usbview to get the poduct id and vendor id of the device for use with action replay. if you haved a thumb drive you can also buy the premade usb adapter from llamma.com and just use usbview to get the info to put in ar to use it foe action replay _________________ Please post all PC Questions at PC-HQ.com
