Alright, I'm all ready to softmod my xbox. I have the gamsaves (SID 4.0) on my hdd and once im fully ready and informed, i can go BUY splinter cell. But there's one problem:
I just found out that i have a Xbox 1.6. I've read these forums quite a bit, and i've seen complaints about incompatibilities with 1.6. So here's my Question:
What exactly could go wrong / not work in the process of modding a 1.6? Could it just not work at all? Is it likely that my attempt will fail?
And if so. Are there any steps I can take to stop this?

Ive softmodded nearly every xbox version using SID3.. I havent upgraded to SID 4 or 4.5 just yet as im happy with how easy SID3 is to install.
SID3 does DISABLE xbox live though.. But there are ways around everything..
I dont think you will have any probs.. I would try softmodding with 4.5 and if you dont have any luck you can always try 3.0 by DJB.. Either way you will get it modded.
also, pirrups hotswap tutorial which is in our xbox tutorials database can fix your softmodded xbox if you get errors you cant fix yourself.. Even if you dont get a eeprom backup etc.
I'd want Live functionality so 3.0 is out of the question. I guess I'll try to find a link for 4.5, however I'm not a V.I.P. member, and i don't know if there's a download to non-VIP members. Hell, i might just become a V.I.P. member tonight.

im sure 4.5 should be avilable to the public but dont quote me on that.. Its nknave's little baby.. You may just need to hunt for a torrent file.. Not sure..
I know its available to VIP's somewhere. Maybe vip downloads.
Sorry.. I dont softmod enough..
And if after i install the softmod, and it goes to hell, hopefully i can just revert to backup.

EDIT: I've actually just discovered that SID 4.5 is avaliable in AID 3, which is a torrent, and I'll probably end up wanting AID later, anyway, so I'm gonna get all of it.
