Delete the copy you made to your HDD and try copying again. Clearing your cahe may help sometimes, but you still may have game saves on your drive. I dont know that either should effect you playing off the hdd though, just delete and copy again.

GTA: San Andreas actually requires a patched executable (.xbe file) to run off the HDD, even after copying it with DVD2XBOX.
I'm not sure what happens if it is backed up to a DVD, but I assume the same, so it is likely that you will need a patch for your backed-up version to function correctly. _________________

i had the same problem with San Andreas when i installed it to the hard drive, what i had to do was make sure that in settings, i had switched the game region to PAL, from auto and turn the TSR from DISABLED to NORMAL. Once i'd done that it worked first time so it might be worth a try.

in fact i have just installed the game to my new hard drive with the above settings adjusted and again it worked fine, make sure you gt the correct region for your game, mine is PAL but if you're in the US you'll need NTSC. Hope this is some use to you!
