I have the n-knave SID 4.5 installed on my xbox. I just got a set of component cables to replace my old A/v cables. The little ms bootfile plays fine, but when it goes into xselect and xbmc, it goes all black and white and wavy. I shut down and booted into the SID options menu by opening the dvd tray. That appeared fine. I then loaded up xbmc and that looked fine, so everything is good when I go through SID. Restarting and letting it boot through xselect and xbmc still goes crazy though. How can I fix this?

If I were you, I'd get the latest version of XSelext. If that doesnt work, I'd just make UnleashX my default dashboard. much easier =P _________________ Xbox 1.6

if its a problem with xselect, why doesn't it fix itself when it goes into xbmc?

Maybe XSelect has a bug in it that was fixed in the latest version? lol, i don't know.
I tried out XSelect and found it to be useless considering you can install just about any dashboard as an app. So if it might be the problem, why waste time on it? You might as well try removing it if you ask me.
Just my opinion, though.

yeah, I guess i might as well try taking it off.
I like xselect because if I want to go to a certain dash I can do it quickly, or if i just want to start up an app like complex tools, I don't have to run a dash first.

Technically, XSelect IS a Dash in itself

Instead of uninstalling it, i tried launching xselect through the sid file explorer and it worked perfectly fine. Im guessing that means it's not the problem. I don't really understand how everything can run great when launched through the sid menu but all wrong when loaded directly. Theres gotta be something I'm missing, but I can't think of what else to try.

This sounds like the same problem I am having. I softmodded using splinter cell and nknave 4.5. I had originally softmodded using the regular av pack. I uninstalled the softmod and set the MS Dashboard for the high def pack. I re-installed the softmod again and chose the dual boot open = game save. When I power on with the power button, I end up with a blue screen. When I power up using the open button the SID installer screen shows and I can use the file manager to load a dashboard and see it fine. This includes the dashboard that I set up as the main one when I softmodded. I am able to get component cables to work fine except when I power on using the power button - the regular softmod boot process.
I would like to have component work and load the dashboard immediately rather than having to have the installer come up and then use the file manager to load a dashboard.
Any help would be appreciated. I've tried a few different things but nothing has worked. For example, I tried the high definition patch thing but when I installed it it told me it would install and then gave me the option to uninstall it.
