I was reading the tutorial and it said things needed a v 1.0 or a v1.1 xbox I have a 1.6 and I would like to know if that tutoral is good for a 1.6

Yes you can softmod your box. Download AID 3 and read the pdf manuals. Also visit the softmod forums and read the stickies. Make sure you get a good understanding of modding.
Things you need to do a softmod are a memory card, AID3 and Action Repaly. The manuals will also list these and tell you where to find them.
