Post subject: installing new harddrive

Hey, ive never used this AID 3.0 before and i have some questions.

I'm modding an xbox using an Xecuter 2.6 chip, and I am going to flash it via HTTP with chip's flashbios, but i want to use this nifty AID program to do everything else. Im going to be putting in a 250 gigger. usually what i would do would be to first put in a bootdisc which would have the soul purpose of letting me ftp to the xbox and backup the original hdd (C: and ESmile to my computer. Then i would install the new harddrive, and once again put in that ftp bootdisc and with flashFXP i would format the partitions, then put back the C: and E: data which i had backed up. so i guess my first question would be, does this bootdisc let me ftp to my box?

also, i did read through the whole AID3.0 manual, and i had some questions about installing dashboards. first, how come there is a install for each dashboard as normal or DHCP. whats this about? also, when you go to install the dashboard, it gives you the three options for HDD size, obviously i have to pick Larger HDD ( E+F+G), but i dont want a G drive, i want all the space to go to the F drive, and i have this set in my bios options, but what will this do?

thanks in advance for the help, and by the looks of it this program will make some things alot better. good job to the creators.

Whew... big post.
Unless you love your current C & E, there is no need to "backup" since you are simply pulling the existing drive out. Softmods I recommend the backup but if the new drive fails, pop in the old one.
DHCP on dashes simply eliminates the need to set up the IP address as stagnant. It would allow the dash to see your router, DHCP does the setup and the box is online for web and ftp access super easy.
Anything over 237 gigs, I recommend a "G" drive. "F" can corrupt if pushed too far.

safely, yeah, you could do 256, but i find its easier to make hdd's smaller than 120, all on f and anything over 120, rest on g.. its just easier to explain that way...

thats just me, everyone recommends somthing different, find out what works best for you..

No sense in making extra drives unless you need em Wink

I always tell people to flash an lba48 supporting bios.. and if they have a 250GB HDD or smaller to use 06 (big F) and if they have a hard drive bigger than 250GB, use 67 (137GB F + G).

Bigger than 400GB should probably use a custom partition table too Wink

anyways, what im really confused about is this aid installing unleashX. if i do it and click on larger(E+F+G), how do i make it so that it is just (E+F), with my 250 gigger
