I softmodded using SID 4.5 & mechassault and all went well. Smile
I then upgraded my hdd to a 160gb using xboxhdm.

When I booted with my new hdd it is showing the standard ms-dash and not the UnleashX dashboard.

Is this normal? Do I need to launch mechassault and re-mod it again? (I noticed that the saved games are there already).

Is the modding procedure the exact same as the first time?

Also, I noticed that xboxhdm created an F partition. Does a 160gb hdd require a G partition or only an F partition?

Thanks a lot!

Daniel

That's because when you FTP'd everything over, you didn't do it from the actual Xploit menu, so the virtual C drive is what was transferred. This can be remedied by resoftmodding.

Yup, it's still the same, but when you use AID to add programs or change dashes, make sure you choose the "larger hdd" option.

As for your G drive question, enable it and format it from UnleashX or something, and see if that gives you back your extra giggage (if you've lost any at all).

I'm actually having the exact same problem/issue. If you boot from AID (with the retail HDD attached), and then start FTP, would it transfer the real C drive? In other words, is it possible to get the complete softmod transferred to the larger HDD without re-applying the softmod?

Thanks,

Q.

An easy way, and the only successful way that I found was to use the "Clone XBox Drive" with xboxhdm.

When I did the FTP thing and then rebuilt the HD from scratch, I had a lot of issues. I had to reapply the softmod. Some games would no longer play (even reatil ones), but after cloning, the softmod was transferred, and everything worked after.

You have to connect both the HD's to your computer, both unlocked (remember that it can only unlock when the drive is the primary master).

Hope that helps.

And I now agree Smile

Spend another evening trying to re-softmod the larger HDD, but everytime I thought I had it working the dreaded error 21 showed up. No amount of restoring/rebuilding/etc fixed it.

So I followed your advice, and it worked first time. Thanks!

To get to your "REAL" C drive you have to run install.xbe in E:\UDATA\
21585554\00000000\

Your real C drive is the one with the following files:
"shadowc.img"
"eeprom.bin"

If you execute that file, you'll go to the softmod 3.1 menu and you can access your real C drive with the file manager.

Ill try this first with my new HDD. Ill clone if it's unsuccessful.

Can anyone confirm that it works this way?
