Hello to all MOD companions,
I've downloaded SID 4.5 and AID 3.0 in the conviction it's installation would be very straightforward.
But as I went into the forums and tutorials, planning my installation, I start having doubts. Probably very basic ones.
So, can someone help me on the following:
1) when reading SID 4.5 tutorial, the main menu picture doesn't show up an option for Dash installation, has it appears in SID 3.0 manual. Does it includes Dash installation or do I need to have AID 3.0 for that operation afterwords?
2) I have a PAL XBOX with enigmah video selector installed, JUST to have 480p, 720p or 1080i available. Is it advisable to remove that softmod before installing the new SID ?
3) finally, it may seems ridiculous, but I can't find it in a structured way, what exact "utilities" do I get just by installing SID 4.5 (without AID 3.0). Any hint where to look for ?

Ive just emailed some of our softmod admins to get them to reply and help you with your questions..
Id love to help myself but havent had a chance to use SID4.5.. I still use 3.0 and im happy with it.. hehehe

As far as I know, since you are already softmodded, no real need to use SID 4.5 when you have AID 3.0. You just pop in that disk, tell it to format your drives for a softmod, and it will even install SID 4.5 with whichever dash you so choose at the press of a few buttons. You will also have access to all of the applications on the disk. _________________

Sjohn, my softmod only allows access to the menu for choosing HD definitions, nothing else. I can't even boot any non official disk.

Since there was no more input for my questions, I decided to move ahead, and make the "plunge".
So the answers I was looking are the following (for even a more newbie than me...):
1 ) Is it does. I choose EvoX.
2 ) No problem. Just install it.
3 ) With this soft mode, you can, at least, immediately run all regions Games and DVDs. Apart from that you can use AID 3 and have everything else.
Additionally, using my freshly softmoded PAL Xbox, I made an upgrade for a 120Mb West.Digit. HDD, using Chimp 2.4.
Everything went perfect.
I'm now running some of my game titles directly from HDD: Half-Life 2, PGR 2 and Halo2.
I'm watching my DVDs like 5thElement Superbit edition, using XBMC upscaling to 720p or 1080i.
I want to thank this fantastic community for the tools created that allowed me to make this "upgrade".
