I read so many posts about renaming roms because xbox won't accept long filenames. Just use DVD2XBOX! It has file name parser to shorten file names. Burn your roms to dvd and use dvd2xbox! It will automatically shorten file name if its too long!! I have over 10,000 roms and all went to my xbox perfectly.
