I have an original unmoded xbox v1.0 and xboxhdm will not recognise my hdd at all no matter how i plug it in I have even tried to find out if i can get it recognised by plugging it in without unlocking it it still says there is no hdd plugged into hda (primary master) I I changed the selector to master and is it on the primary drive ide 1 but my pc says there is nothing hooked up to it.... is there any reason for that? thanks

Are you sure it's the primary ide cable? I thought on my pc the primary was the one connected to my pc hdd. Realized it wasn't from a diagram of my motherboard.

I had a very similar problem with mine and I couldn't figure out why my computer wouldn't recognize the xbox's hard drive. MY problem was I forgot that I need to boot the xbox with the ORIGINAL xbox ide still plugged in (with the xbox dvd-rom power unplugged), then boot the PC with your xboxhdm cd in. THEN swap the xbox and pc IDE cables. It's a VITAL step in allowing your PC to recognize the xbox hard drive.

This might be a stupid explanation, but it was something I forgot to do. Hope it helps. If not, I'm sure someone here can point you in the right direction.
