TSOP is an acronym of Thin Small-Outline Package.
This simply refers to the physical shape and size of a "chip". Like a lot of electronic terms it can often be used to refer to its most common use, even though that use has little bearing on physical chip packaging.
Regarding the XBOX BIOS/firmware. Information is stored on a chip of TSOP form. Hence numerous references to XBOX TSOP upgrades. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

TSOP flashing, in some cases, are as powerful as a chip. But they are not for the novice. It requires a lot of soldering and a very steady hand. If you're not a patient one, do not try a TSOP. You could render your xbox 100% useless. For starters, go with a solderless chip, and when you order that chip, make sure it comes with some kind of a soldering package. While you're enjoying your chip, practice soldering as much as you can.
I got a crash course in soldering. I ordered a solderless 2.6CE, realized solderless sucks with a 1.0 mobo and had to learn how to solder REAL quick... So much for the softmod masta. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

This is all correct, but I suggest; Never be afraid of what you can or can't do, after all, that's how we all learn, but I do suggest you get your self some confortable and satisfying soldering skills, before you go into the tiny, tiny, tiny motherboard points, you might just do something wrong.
Trust me, even I'm experience enough, I still got to break a trace on the bottom of the bridge, leaving my xbox with chrismas lights, luckly I got to fix it up, and got the xbox working, the only downside, I can't reflash anymore _________________ Xbox v1.1
