Hi guys, first post
I'm from the UK btw, so all my software versions etc will be UK/EU
Been reading as much info as I could before I went ahead with this, and I'm pretty sure I have everything down, but I'm running into problems at step 1..
I went out today and bought a second hand Splinter Cell, a memory unit, and an Xplorer (basically AR USB to memory wire, couldnt find an Action Replay ANYWHERE it seemed).
(This is XP btw) Anyway, I installed the Xplorer software, attached the device but Windows has its own ideas and installs its own drivers to the device I try 'updating' them via the Device Manager to the Xplorer's drivers from the CD but Windows thinks that the drivers it put on are somehow better and wants to keep them insteead..
I then tried the advanced option of 'Have Disk' in the Update Driver menu, but its telling me '"The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".
Fair enough I thought, so ive gone and downloaded the Xbox PC essentials and tried running the EU action replay and loading those drivers, but same problem... I then found a thread with a 'hacked' AR, but again same, then I tried MaxDrive drivers and had the exact same problem.
See at the moment I cant tell if the products I've bought will even work at all, cause Windows and its silly driver methods are letting me down Sad
Has anyone come across this problem before?
Oh, and I tried doing it on an alternate PC with the same results Sad
Thanks guys!
PS.
In Device manager it shows as 'Generic Flash Disk USB Device'
and the drivers it uses can be found:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\disk.sys
and
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\PartMgr.sys
I've tried moving them temporarily as I install the device... but they recreate themselves

Sorry I meant 'Xploder'
Yeah basically when i plug it into USB, windows installs its own drivers for it, and I get a "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware" message when I try and change it to a max/ar/xploder driver instead
I tried the drivers and USB lead on another comp to which found the same issues. Have you ever come across this before?
As far as I know the Xploder is pretty much a EU gameshark, but I'm not 100%

I've read threads where people using the Xploder have been able to get it to work just the same, but using the AR drivers and software so hopefully that shouldnt be a problem
Its just the PC wont recognise it as an Xbox card reader, so the Xploder client and the AR software doesnt think its there.
I did as you said, and the taskbar does the usual 'Found New Hardware'.. 'Hardware ready for use', it doesnt let me choose which drivers to use but puts what it 'thinks' My main problem is when I try and change these drivers, it doesnt let me:(
Shall i post pics?

Yeah it came with a disk, but that just installs the software to transfer saves/files from the PC to the memory card. Theres a folder on the CD called 'drivers' with the device drivers in there, but when I try and 'Update Device' using these drivers (or any others such as AR) I get the "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware" error
The website seems to offer near no support, just a pretty useless FAQ. I've tried googling the error but no luck

lol well yeah course I loaded the program, I've been trying all that, I've been at this for hours now
Other people that have used it dont seem to have had a problem though, ive googled the driver issue and theres a whole bunch of results, but theres no real answer to solving it.. usually a case of getting the right drivers.. but ive been getting the ones everyone else uses for this Xploder, AR, the HQ PC set etc with no luck.
I was just wondering if anyone else had come across this before..
Its more of a windows issue than a problem with the product.

Figured its probably the unofficial memorycard im using not being recognised as a memory card by any of the drivers. Itried using USBview with no luck.
I'll take it back Ordered an action replay off eBay now, so hopefully I'll have that by Monday

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but you can use your controller like an Action Replay device with a program called XBCD. It's a USB driver. You can find this file on www.llamma.com.
You can DL the Action Replay software on this site and update it on Action Replays site.
It works for me. Good luck! _________________ Not quite a Newbie
