im trying to install hdd/lan activity lights on my xbox.im using two 5mm leds, two 1k ohm resistors 1/2watt,and a splice into the 5v wire on the power supply unit for power.
the lan lights stays off and flashes when there is lan activity.the hdd activity light stays on constanly and dose not flash.i solderd the lan and hdd activity light to the motherboard, useing the 1.6 x3 tutorial from teamxecuter as a refferance for the lan and hdd solder points.
tryed replacing the ide cable and no differance
.when the hdd/lan wires were hooked up to the x2 switch they both flashed.any response would be great.

Why did you splice it to the 5v power? Wouldn't that make it stay on constantly? _________________

i thought the 5v was the right source. i also thought the 39th pin was a ground
for the hdd, so when the hdd is active not idle the led should flash and when no activity its not grounded and should not be on.is this right. were did you get the 5v from?cause the lan led works fine with it wired like it is and i thought the hdd would have the same afect.
5v from psu

everything is hooked up right but the led still stays on always.i was wondering
if something got messed up. dose any one know were the trace on the motherboard gose for the 39th pin so a can hard wire it to the mobo, from the 39th pin to ??? i think the ground is getting a 12v ground this is why the led stays on constantly.i tryed to hook it back up to the x2 switch and the light stays on constantly also.the lan on works perfectly.when i first hooked it up it was to 12v in stead of 5v and it blew the leds but i thought that was all the damage but i guess not.if anyone can help please respond this is getting annoying!!!!!!
or should i just say screw it its f*cked
