While using Xboxhdm I accidentally pressed a wrong key while manually typing in the eeprom.bin key so that I could lock a 250 GB Seagate drive for use with my xbox. Problem is that it successfully locked it and I was not running the password logger. Being that this drive was not a stock xbox drive I figure it has to be possible to unlock by means of a universal override code or by force formatting. The model # of the HD is ST3250623A-RK. Are there any options here or am I out of luck and the proud owner of a 250 GB paperweight?

I should mention that using the Master Password "XBOXSCENE" without quotes, does not work in ATAPWD because my drive is apparently locked in Maximum security mode.

If your hdd is still under warranty, you may be able to get it replaced by the factory.(you only need to pay for shipping to get it there.) _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

What kind of drive is it? I understand that if you flash the firmware on a harddrive it will reset the password, but I have never had to try this.
Do you know which character in the string you typed in wrong? If so you could take the painstaking time and try every possible character in its place. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

If I could find a firmware update or get the master pass I could be rolling again. Sadly, Seagate technical support refuses to provide either. I guess I'll be returning the drive to the vendor.

You can take a look, but I don't think that you'll find firmware for that HDD.
Lately the HDD Mfg's have been a little protective about firmware for thier products. (Eg. WDC claims that there is no firmware for the late model EIDE HDD's)
If you do I'm sure that there are others on this site that would like to have it, so please post your results.
Thanks,
