Ok I already installed a softmod, Evox dashboard and I downloaded AID 3. I wanted to know if there was a way other than burning a dvd to install AID 3. I dont have a burner, I guess I could find one should need be. But is there any way I could install it through ftp or action replay or something like that.

thanks

No. It is designed that way so that you have to burn it to a disk, then you can install to hdd.

It would be nice to know if there is another way. I've tried burning AID3 to three different brands of CD-R & two different brands of DVD-R, and the Samsung drive in my Crystal XBox refuses to read it. Alternatively, can the folders for the various programs & emulators be extracted from the AID3 ISO and just FTPed over to my box?

I would use the AID 3.0 Manual that came with it.
It tells ya how how to burn it with dvd decryptor which comes with aid 3.0 in the tools folder.

installing aid 3.0 to your xbox hd using xboxhdm
Required Tools:
1) xboxhdm 1.9
2) Torx 10 And Torx 20 Screwdrivers - To Open XBOX
3) A bigger Hardrive
4) FTP Program (flashfxp)
5) A PC ,blank CD-R/W and A CD Burner
6) evox dash (can be installed as an app)
7) DVDdecryptor
Steps:
1. First take a backup from your retail disk (C,E drive and your eeprom) , you can use evox to backup eeprom.(eeprom backup can be found on E)

2. FTP your backup data to your pc using ftp program.

3. unpack xboxhdm onto your pc

4. put the backup eeprom to the xboxhdmlinuxeeprom folder , put C and E folder into the xboxhdmlinux folder and overwrite the ones already there.

Note: make sure you put the bacxkup of the ms dash in the c folder under the xboxhdmlinux folder.

5. next extract the aid 3.0 iso to a folder called Aid, on your desktop. now copy that folder to the xboxhdmlinux\E\Apps\ directory.
but be sure to copy the Udata and Tdata Folders to your xboxhdmlinux\E\ directory. so you can run the reinstall the softmod using whatever game you used.

Please Note: if you have a lot of apps that u can easily install. leave them off this cd. because space is an issue.

6. In the root of xboxhdm is a file named 'make-iso-win', run this file and wait for it to finish.

7. It will make a .iso file. (burn this file with dvddecryptor)

8. take out all your hard disks in your pc and put the new hard disk (for the xbox) , make sure its primary master and first boot is cdrom.

9. put the disk you made in the cdrom drive and boot your pc .

10. you will get a menu, now choose Option 1 (by typing ‘1’) and press enter to boot VGA console with xbox-drive utilities (default). Type ‘xboxhd’ when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says ‘Build a new Xbox HD from scratch’) and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc. If you put your C: and E: onto the CD then when it asks you about them type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes .

11. reboot your pc (we are almost done )

12. Now for locking the hard drive. This time type ‘3’ and hit enter to boot linux with locking/unlocking utilities. Next, type in ‘lockhd -a’. It will now search for the eeprom on the CD and will automatically lock the hard drive. Now turn off the PC and take out the hard drive when it has finished locking. Put the disk in your softmodded xbox .

13. now put the game you used to install the soft mod originally and use it to reinstall the softmod.

14. once you have reinstalled the softmod. and u have installed the dash you want. run aid as an app.

there you go you just accomplished want you have been wanting

Thanks for the tutorial j8994.

But I have now found a dvd burner I bought a 5 pack of Sony dvd-r's. Ive burned 2 cds already following all the instructions Ive found but niether of the worked.

For the first cd I downloaded an Xiso file maker given in a link in one of the tutorials and converted the whole AID3 rar package to an iso file and using nero 6 burned it to a dvd-r at 1x speed.

For the second cd I went into the first aid30.rar file opened it up, went to tools, and ran the AID iso updater program and followed the instructions. Then using nero 6 I burned it to another dvd-r at 1x speed.

Ive attached a picture of what the file on both my attempts has looked like.

So what am I doing wrong im going crazy working hours and hours on this thing Ive read so many guides and tutorials. Is there anyway I could just get a file that was already converted into iso and ready to burn or a straight up tuorial would be very helpful too, thanks.

p.s. I am using the 4.7gig sony dvd-r's, and from the compatability section they work with all drives. So I already believe thats not the problem
