I've modified several xboxes with various versions of SID overtime and have experimented with many variations. Only once have I stuffed this up and that was on a recent SID modded Xbox when I deleted both the SID directory on C drive and the GameSaves on D drive. Pirrups xbox disk swap technique between the stuffed xbox and a modded xbox saved me.
Now I'm keen to progress to using SID 4.5 NKpatcher however I'm concerned about the new constraints preventing me from successfully formatting the C drive as part of my process to modding an Xbox. What is the correct way to wipe an existing real C drive on an unchipped Xbox as part of the modding process if I use SID 4.5?
It is important to me to wipe the C drive clean before I do a mod. My normal process is to (1) use the Game and Gamesave to backup eeprom (2) use the Game and Gamesave to install SID on the target xbox (3) boot from AID cdr/dvdr (4) format C (4) install clean MS dash.... My concern with SID 4.5 NKpatcher is that if I use it at step 1, then my step 3 will either not fully clean my real C drive (something I really want to be able to do), or put my xbox in a state where it will not boot from either hard disk or from AID cdr/dvdr. I know I can do this with older versions of SID, then once C drive is clean, progress with SID 4.5, however I'm keen to migrate fully to SID 4.5. So, what is the correct way to wipe an existing real C drive on an unchipped Xbox as part of the modding process if I only use SID 4.5?

maybee try using the method that is in the read me that comes with it, Is actually easy enough not to read it but i still rekon it`s well worth reading.
The only drive you should be worrying about formating is F drive.
Method in readme works fine. I have no problem modding using SID 4.5 or any other version of SID. This is not a query about how to mod. It is a query about how to corectly format real C drive using SID 4.5. Hopefully it will raise some discussion around (a) the constraints placed on access under SID 4.5, (b) how to get around them, and (c) what to avoid. Sorry if I did not make this clear.
So to state it again. What is the best way to format real C drive using SID 4.5 either from GameSave or hard disk install, and avoid losing access to xbox?
The standard response elsewhere in forum is to backup MSDASH to D drive. Please do not respond with this. I do not want to rely on the current data on C drive. I want to know how to blow C drive away.
