im all new at this stuff and my spelling isn't that great so bear with me. i just got an xbox from x-mas and im thinking of modding it. if looked around on this site and treid installing evox but my xbox just says that it can't read this type of disc. i read on a nother site that newer xboxs have different dvd rom drives to combat people modding their xboxs. is there any way of bypassing this? is it possible to take the hard drive form the xbox and put it in my computer and use some program to transer files to it? im also wondering if its possible to swap the dvd drive with a cd rom drive from a computer to install evox or linux and other things and then putting the stock xbox dvd drive back in to play xbox games. if anyone could help me here it would be nice. and i have to say i like this site alot, very nice, lots of infromation.

ok when you try to run anything that is not ms certified we call it unsiged codes to run these unsiged codes we need to modify the xbox so that the xbox protection doesnt stop unsiged codes.
now yes its true that there is diffrent dvd drives but none will work if you pop that disc in , 1st you need to decide if you want to softmod or hardmod softmod is quick and easy as where hard mod requires installing a chip or tsop .
so if you dont want to open up your xbox and soilder or put non soilder chips then softmods are for you
1st you need 1 of the fellowing games
007 agent under fire machaassult or spliter cell
sorry cant spell ma right... try not to get a platinum edition ....
these games we call them exploitable . once you got 1 of the fellowing game you need a way of transfering gamesaves ... get ar = auction replay ... max or old 1 doesnt matter.
