Thanks angelo,it was my dad playing on it at the time so im not sure if he accidently tried to sign on,i'll have to get in touch with the guy who softmoded it let him know how it could be sorted.Hopefully it will work (the quicker the better i only have about 5% of True Crime NY to finish)lol.

Im not sure what soft mod i have but here goes
version 1.6
executor latest one i think
and sid 4 thats about as much i know,ive got avalaunch on it,the disk that was used for it was splinter cell.
Oh and its only a 10 gig.
The guy who soft modded it is coming tomorrow to try and reinstall the sm again.

Oh, and no. It doesn't only apply to being plugged into the softmod. I've recently fixed a friend's xbox twice with SID 4 because he popped in the Tetris Worlds/Star Wars Clone wars disc and the Multi Menu automatically changed his C drive around so every time he popped in the disc it would take him to the account setup screen.

The Star Wars/Tetris Worlds dual disc that was released in 2002 apparently screws up the mod. When you put it in, it plays fine, but it ends up trying to replace the dashboard with it's "signup" screen. When i turn it on it shows the first xbox (white microsoft underneath) loading screen then it goes straight to error 21.I cannot do anything after this,I cant boot games....

Well guys cant understand why he got error 21
but quick fix solution, just started xbox with splinter cell
retail in dvd, reinstalled sid4 and m$ dash backup
all working well,
made sure chris knows
it's ndure duel boot (retail tray open)
or SM with power button
