Xbox V1.6 (brand new Xbox)
X3 Chip – soldiered (Everything soldered perfectly, chip has power and everything)
BIOS – Flashed with X3 3294 through the network
Hard drive – 180 gig
Ok. I am having this problem with my friends xbox. He gave me his xbox to chip. I soldered all the wires to the points just fine (I have done this before on many other xboxs so I know what I am doing) I flashed the bios loaded up Unleashx dash and some apps. Ok here is where it gets wierd. I plug in everything correctly into the xbox (power cord and video cord (yellow, red, white) and the xbox boots up fine and the chip has power. Boots on "disable chip" Red and "Enable Chip" blue. And it boots to MS dash and Unleashx dash. Everythings Perfectly fine.
My friend took it to his house and plugged everything in and hooked it to a tv and the xbox turns on but the chip wont turn on (no power) it boots straight to MS dash. So I opened the box up and double check all the soldered points. Everything is clean and perfect. Brought the xbox Back to my house and plugged it in and the chip boots and everything is back to normal as if there was no problem before. Then brought it back to his house and does the same thing it did before.
These are regular tvs too nothing fancy no HD tv nothing. Just plan whole tvs using the xbox power cord and the video cords and thats it. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem. Cuz I bet if I brought it back to my house the xbox would work.

If chip is working at your house and not his, it's either got some kind of short taking place with the tv video/audio inputs or something in his AC outlet is making a lot of noise in the line. Try plugging in a standard AM radio to that outlet and start tuning to stations. If you hear a lot of humming in the audio quality of the AM radio, his power is dirty. Perhaps a bad ground outside somewhere. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Wow really. Thats wierd. Is there a quick fix to this if that is the problem. If so how? This is what I am going to do today. Since it works on my tv and everything boots up. I am taking my tv and the xbox and the cords and trying it at my house first then taking the tv and xbox over to his house and seeing if it works with my tv at his house. I was thinking maybe he has an HD tv and he doesnt even know it or something. I will report the results and try to fix this.
Thanks
Anyone else have ideas?

Hum. Are you using HIS A/C cord and video cord at his house, but yours at your house (i.e. could it possibly be something OTHER than the xbox)? One thing that pops to mind is there could be a pin shorted on the video cord for his or something. Another thing, is you could have one of those cracked A/C connectors on the power supply daughter board that is causing you to get strange contact every time you plug/unplug the cord...shrug.

mine does the same thing, at first i thought it was the soldering job, but i checked with a multimeter, every pin on the chip was getting the same voltage when the chip was blue/red glowing as when it wasnt. All ive found to fix it is to tap the top of my xbox, i know this seems like a lose connection, but sometimes when im watching movies the chip light turns off by itself........its been like this for a year now, and all ive had to do is turn the xbox on and tap the top of the box untill the chip light comes on, then turn the box off and on again. I only really have to do this once everytime its moved. IDK if it will work for your friend or not, but it sounds similar to what i expierenced at first.
