If you're playing off a disk, it may not be sitting well. Also, some dashes control the fan speed and that can increase noise as well. Otherwise, it's got to be whatever the shelf is it's on or something touching the shelf.
The shelf if wood can amplify the sound too. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

what should the settings be for fan speed in xbmc? ive never adjusted it
ive got hd spindown time off
immediate hd spindown off
shutdown idle time out off
fan speed override off

Your preference.
The reason it's quieter is that the fan runs slower.
I put mine up to 40% and leave it.
By default it runs at 20% when running the M$ dash. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
