When I boot MS Dash I get Error Code 05, and message that my xbox needs service. I think the problem is that my Western Digital 80Gb drive cannot be locked. Would that be correct ?
Is there any way round ?
Secondly I connected up my xbox using the offcial hi-def cable kit, as I cannot get into MS Dash, how can I set my xbox to hi-def mode ?
Any help would be great, I really want to see what high def can do

It should only matter if you turn off your XBOX MODCHIP.. Then if your xbox hdd isnt locked you will get a error.
With the modchip on you wont see this problem and your xbox will work just like normal.. I would personally try locking your hdd using CONFIG MAGIC which is on the Auto Installer Deluxe for XBOX DVD-R.. (http://www.aideluxe.com).

If i have chip OFF and boot, I get the same Error Code 05 when MS Dash is booting.
I tried to lock my hard drive using config magic, it says it cannot lock it.
Have i done something wrong ?

No, not necessarily. Some hard drives aren't lockable, which would cause your problem. There is a hard drive database here on the HQ that will give you an idea on which hard drives are lockable. Other than that, I've read of some various ways to try and force lock drives, I'll look around for the link. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

That would be most helpful. Any way i could screw things up by force locking ?
I found a little workaround :-
1 - start xbox goes to XBMC
2 - I had installed MS Dash as a application
3 - go to my programs and launch ms dash
4 - sure enough there it is, went into video and enabled high def, found 1080i did not work for me, so have 480 and 720 enabled.
I am from the UK, if you are there an extra pre step to the above before you can do any of that UK box are PAL, USA xbox are NTSC. Pal does not have the high def settings to resolve this do :-
1 - Install Enigma Videomode Swticher
2 - Run the above and the screen will what your on and what button to press to switch mode
3 - Reboot
4 - Do steps listed at the top and your DONE.
This is just to help anyone with same problem as me, however if anyone can suggest how to force lock a drive I would be grateful, I have a Western Digital 80Gb WDC WD800BB-75CAA0 (what last 6 digits are they indivdual on all disks)
