First: Always read the forums befor you start.
I am attempting a case mod. I pulled of the jewel and frosted it - looks good. I bought some paint... in a can... it looks like crap. I want solid orange on the textured parts of the box. I didn't go with a skin because I want it to stay textured. I have only test painted the back. I don't see how a spray can is going to do better on the edges - I will have to mask it off and I think that around the numbers and XBOX on the DVD tray will all look bad still. Most of what I read though indicated that nobody paints there own box - just has others do it. I am not finding anything in the tutorials on painting. I only painted the back - the paint just streaked - like it wouldn't stick to the plastic. I used Krylon brand and tryed a spnge brush, sponge roller, regular brush, and regular roller - did the same thing with them all - just wouldn't really stick. 35 for a one tone. i use auto/air createx airbrush paint with a white primer to make it bright, or i can make it duller if you like. shipping is usually around 9.80 UPS ground w/ tracking.
if you would like, i can upload a color chart of the colors i use so you can pick if you choose to send your xbox case to me.

OK, here are the pics - two differant colors. Also - I think the problem is that I didn't use a primer. I want a flat look - is clear coat a requirement? da-goat - I am going to play with it a little more. I have a friend that painted the dash in his truck and it looks good - I like doing things like this myself just to say I did it so I will see what I can do - if it won't work I will let you know and you can fix it for me.

I've never painted an xbox, but I paint model cars all the time. From what it looks like, you tried to do to heavy of a coat. Do light coats. Also, don't forget to wash it down real good and let it dry before painting. As da-goat mentioned, I would do a primer because you are painting on black, maybe do a white or silver primer.
Also, for the price that da-goat gave you, it really is a good deal. As paint alone can get expensive, not to mention the time it takes, especially if a mistake is made. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

Obviously you have to sand it down to get it back clean again.
As far as cleaning, I usually just use soapy water, than let air dry. Don't use paper towels, you will leave torn paper on there and the paint will not look good.
Also, a tip is to cut some holes in a cardboard box, and place the box on top of the xbox while it is drying. That way it gets air but not so much dust. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

Hey rausch713,
Thats acutally a pretty cool effect with that paint...If you want a smooth even coat, sand down the textured areas, and rough up the smooth parts, too. It looks as though you didn't sand at all. Krylon plastic worked like a charm on my case. _________________

I did no sanding at all - next Thursday and Friday I hope to work on it some more. I will let you all know how it looks. I think I can wash that paint off still - it wasn't really stuck on at all.
