I apoligize if the their is a thread covering this that I missed!
I had an older version of SID installed(SID2 I think) and my brother borrowed my XBOX only to bring it back complaining that the machine will only play the retail games and not DVD-R or DVD+R's which were playable before. He swears he did nothing wrong.
I FTP'd to the system to see if I could make any sense of the whole thing and since I am new at this, I couldn't figure out what could be missing so I tried to restore the dashboard to re-softmod with SID4 and the XBOX would search for XBOX live account instead of loading the evox dashboard.
I was lucky enough to load up the installer again with Splinter Cell and I managed to install the softmod with SID4 only to load the old EVOX dashboard and only retail games will play. I put the AID 2.11 on a cd-rw and the disc is read as "no disc" (as all the burnt games we had tried)and I burnt it onto a DVD-R which came up as as "unknown".
I have FTP access to the XBOX and I am assuming that I am missing a file somewhere.
Please help me out!!!!

now about the evox it sounds werid... did u do dual boot =retail or what??? im stil thinkin it has somtin 2 do with dvd drive.. what kind is it? either that or bad burns... try any media retail games retail dvds burn games burn dvds burn apps ... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Hi,
I want to thank you "gus738" as your help was very useful.
I went out and got an xbox dvd-rom from a friend and I took it home but I had the xbox unplugged for few days and when I turned it on, it started looking for xbox live updates and would not load up the evox dash.
The xbox would still load up the Splinter Cell game and I loaded up the SID4 menu. I eventually got the softmod installed again and it will load up the evox dash from the SID2 I had installed originally.
The new dvd-rom drive works like a charm and I can now play burnt games but I unplugged the xbox again overnight to make sure the evox dash would load up and it did the same thing as before(the unsuccessful xbox live update).
I have now loaded the softmod back up and it is working right now but I am unsure of what to do next as I know that I must have a file or files missing or in the wrong place and I have done so many different things moving files around on the harddrive that I am kind of confused now
Will the auto installer deluxe take care of the problem or is there a way I can fix this problem using ftp access as I still have it on the xbox.
Any help will be much appreciated!!!

NOW AS 4 THE SOFTMOD
u say u installed sid4 AND EVERYTIME U UNPLUG XBOX FOR MORE THEN 4 HRS ur xbox loads ms dash and it ask 4 time right???? that is a simple fix.. but i just want 2 confirm this msg b4 continuing.. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Hi,
No, it doesn't ask me to set the clock.
It try's to update the xbox live and asks me not to turn the machine off and then says "xbox live is unavailable, please try again later" or something like that and when I press the "A" button, it just plays the whole loop over and over again.

I think I installed the SID4 right away as I didn't know I had to update the MS Dash(5960) if it was done and patched already. The SID4 seemed to work fine but I am uncertain if I uninstalled the previous SID2 properly.
Can I use AID 2.11 to change the xbox back to the retail version and start all over again?
Does the AID have all the files on the disc or will it try to change back to retail with only the files I have on the HD and possibly do more damage to the xbox ie. error codes?
Please help!!!

why dont u start fresh? get xed or aid i know xed then run it and click uninstall all softmods then it will ask to turn of DO NOT turn off yet
THEN CLICK INSTALL MS DASH 5960 again it will ask to turn off NOW U CAN TURN OFF and u should get retail xbox
then re to the softmod as u have latest ms dash...

Thanks for your help, I am downloading XED through a torrent right now. I am going through the AID 2.11 manual to see how it's done with that disc but I am afraid I might screw it up so I will probably use the XED disc when it's downloaded and follow your instructions.
P.S. You guys are great and if your ever in the GTA area(Toronto, Ontario), I will get you drunk or buy you dinner or take you to a sporting event or you can take liberties with my wife or all the above mentioned to show my appreciation for all the hard work form the guys who design these programs and everyone else who helps out.

I used the XED disc and got an error 22 so I pressed the "A" button and everything seems to be O.K. now.
