Yesterday I had to mod a strange 1.6 XBOX which ms dash was older than 5960. I tryied to upgrade it ftp-ing dashupdate.xbe from some Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow but without any luck. However my question is - what is the right way to upgrade ms dash before isntalling SID 4.0. I cannot simply put some AID disk, since XBOX is rebooting immediately when ejecting the tray
My second question is regarding No Eject Hack. Is is available in the SID 4.0? Will it work on 1.6 boxes?
Third and last question is regarding BIOS. From what I understood, BIOS is retail. Is it possible to change BIOS using IND or Evox M8? Are they suitable for softmodded XBOX-es.
I am thinkign that without TSOP-ing BIOS is retail, however I want to be sure..

just pop a newer like kinda of games halo 2 midnight club 3 ... etc.
Then just try to go to live Dont have ur ethner cable connected on back of xbox Dont ...
for what ppl been saying is that those newer games update ur dash auto...
no eject hack??? what u mean by that?
sid 4 can run by 1 single boot = takes u directly to softmod xbox ...
2 dual boot = power on ur xbox and u got softmoded xbox ejet try open = and u got a retail xbox which is safe for xbl ...
when u softmod the xbox using sid4 it will be nkpatcher system.. newkernalpatcher.. so the bioses change ... erh is this ur question about the bios?
U dotn need to phsicaly open ur xbox to make ur xbox moded.. Softmods are pratically to the point that u dont need chip or any hardware mod.. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

No Eject Hack means no restart when I open DVD tray... For example I pause the menu, open the tray. XBOX stays at the pause menu. I put a new disk, close the tray and IGR to new game. Or I don't put the disk, IGR and go to evox... for a second.. not for 30 seconds via cold restart
With dual boot If I open the tray, system reboots to original dash... Not much handy... two resets to change a game..
With single boot - no live. Anywhay I don't care about live..
I don't have an original new game. All my original games are .. let's say at the age of Splinter Cell.

gus has stated the best way to update dash, as for the no eject hack, well, it's not really there, what's there is the ROE/Flag based on XBE, so only the Disc loaded xbe's should make the xbox reboot, and not other xbe's like dashes apps, etc, but some xbe headers are set to reset, so it can cause a conflict sometimes.
Halo 2 will never reboot on eject when you run modded., other gamaes like MC3:DE will. _________________ Xbox v1.1

nknave, thanks to you and to all people that made SID possible.
I found an easy way to update dashboard without having an original game. Simply I ftp dashupdate.xbe from some new game (last time I used Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow but it is rather old) and run it via SID file manager. Works like charm... no need to have an original game and go to live or wathever. Rocks...
Second - IGR is implemented in a very nice manner. IGR leads to dash and not to game in the DVD (my X2 bios handles IGR differently). This solves the problem with No Eject Hack.. simply IGR and then open the tray.
Really wery rare in my life I have seen such a quality tool. If I can help some how - please let me know. I feel like I owe you one..
I have saved several people from opening their boxes and soldering some cheapmods with your and all people that have contributed to SID and simmilar tools works.

U didnt knew of igr???? i just didnt mentiond it cuz i stil had an idea of no eject hack cept i wanted 2 verify ..
umm that is good really that u got ur dash updated but umm i thoug u were a newbie (sry) and that is was the fastest easiest way i could think of.. yea i knew about ftp but most noobs cant even get the right wire .... so end result was retail game.. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

I know about IGR, simply I am softmoding boxes, but @home I have a Aladdin modded XBOX. X2 BIOS handles IGR differently than retail bios patched with NDure.
