Cheers guys.Yeah this is my first time posting to the board, i've been looking around for a while to get an idea but there's so much to take in.
Anyway thanks again for the FTP advice, i'll look into using that as a means of moving the roms from my PC to the Xbox.

gus738, thanks fo sticking with this thread. I've now got UnleashX installed. To be honest, when I started asking for help on here it was because someone on a home cinema board that I regularly post on recommened a new dashboard but I couldn't really see the point but I thought I'd like to try it anyway to see for myself. I don't intend on putting in a bigger hard drive as I'm not that bothered about loading it with games. I can play backups which suits me fine. By the way this is not a piracy thing, it's a case of common sense when you have a house load of drunk thirty year old 'children' fighting over what game to play and stumbling all over your discs on a Friday night. My originals need to be safely locked away upstairs!!
There is one thing I'd like to do if you can help. There is a programme on Autoinstaller that can be used to swap from NTSC to PAL. I don't remember the name but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Anyway I'd like to install this on the xbox but don't know quite what to do. Someone told me I can install it as an application but I'm not really sure what this means let alone how to do it.
If it's not too complicated then could you talk me through it. If it is complicated then don't worry as I can always use the Autoinstaller disc on the rare occasions I need to swap to PAL.
Thanks in advance for your help

One more thing. I installed the dashboard configured for modchips rather than the ones in the softmod section of autoinstaller. Now it says in the manual that had I done this to a softmodded xbox then I wouldn't be able to boot the MS dash which I can. Would you say this definitely proves I have a chip installed or are the exceptions that you know of?
Thanks again

Not really, the fact that you are booting a dash that states it's for chips only vs softmod and it's working only proves that yours may be the exception rather than the rule.
The real test (other than opening the box as previously suggested) is whether there is a way for you to install a bios of your choosing rather than stuck with whatever bios was supplied. Can the dash identify the bios being used?
One can switch between NTSC and PAL using Enigma. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

If I press Y on the UnleashX dash and scroll down it says Chip id followed by a long code and Fujitsu. Does this refer to a modchip or something different altogether?

there's 1 thing you all forgetting about.
The xbox is capable of readin standard data discs that read on pc, so if you burn a cd-rw or dvd-r in pc data mode (iso 9660 i think) than it's readable from your dash like UnleashX or other file managers, and you can easily transfer your roms to their corresponding folder (emulator roms folder) _________________ Xbox v1.1
