I'm softmodding 2 Xboxes with SID 3 and HD upgrade.
One Xbox is upgraded with an Maxtor 120GB HD. The Maxtor 120 GB works fine! The other Xbox works fine with the retail disk but with a 200GB HD it won't Unlock when started, Error 06.
I have tried two different HD's - Western Digtal WD2000BB and a Samsung SP2014N.
Is there a (simple) way to setup these HD's to work with a softmodded xbox? I've tried XBOXHDM 1.9 to build a disk from scratch, works fine! but when I try to lock the HD (Western Digital), it won't lock (security error) even when I set the disk as User in my PC Bios.
I read in an other forum that the unlocking error could be because the HD was locked with a other Mobo (my Chip modded xbox). If this is true, is there a way to start up with the the retail HD then hotswap with the upgrade HD and lock the upgrade HD on the softmod mobo?[/b]

If you can't lock it, you can't lock it, and will run to error 05.
If your running to error 06, your locking the hdd with the wrong eeprom, in other words, your locking that hdd with the eeprom of another xbox and make that xbox run into error code 06 (cannot unlock). _________________ Xbox v1.1

nknave: I dont understand. I am having the 06 error on a samsung 250gig drive. but mine shows its locked. the original drive work fine but not the large one. so I dont know what to do to get this to work. Please help.

Let me explain again, in a more defined way.
When you get error 06, it's cause it failed to lock, and this is cause the hdd has a serial password that this xbox cannot recognize, it's either the wrong eeprom used to lock this hdd, or some made up one, you can't lock a hdd with any eeprom and expect it to load up in any xbox, unless it's the same xbox of course.
Run something that can backup your xbox eeprom like SID 4 menu, and once it's backed up, you'll ftp to your xbox, and take the eeprom.bin file from E:\UDATA\21505554\000000000000\backup\ and make your xboxhdm disc from there, make sure you unlock your hdd with the previous disc you used, and lock with the proper eeprom now, that way you don't run into error 06 again. _________________ Xbox v1.1

k nkave is right no other possbility ... first
run the disc and everyhing again as if u were doin it again... then go to option 3 boot to linux utilityes or somtin locking/unlockin hdd
type unlockhd -a and it should say unlocked or somtin... then try to get ur original backup eeprom from ur retail hdd ... then put it back on xboxhdm and reburn the disc thorw old 1 out so u dont get confused and re do the process using new eeprom.. the correct 1. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition
