ok hi everyone.. well im trying to buld a new hdd that way my xbox can
read it .. i have a MAXTOR 200GB HDD 7200 RPM 8MB CACHE.. using
XBOXHDM1.9 NOW I'V READ IT AND IT SAYS tha i must have my
EEPROM and C and E drive .. NOW WHY WOULD I NEED C N E DRIVE?
that way i can have it exacly like the stock hdd? WHAT IF I WANT THIS
NEW HDD to be like before i softmoded ? i dont think its possible because
ms dash wont work with it .. correct me if i'm worng. why dont i want my
old hdd C n E drive to tranfer to my new hdd? simple because it has a
small problem.. so i need a 100% new like working xbox.. WHAT DO I DO
PEOPLE? do i hotswap my old stock hdd ? that way it can be like new with
stock ms dash? REMEMBER I AM KIND OF NOT GOOD @ THIS SO I WANT
TO avoild as much as problems as i can. AND IF ONCE I COPY C n E
DRIVE WILL IT BE JUST PARTION THAT WAY I CAN HAVE ACCES TO MY
NEW HDD ? or why does it require C n E drive/folders w.e...
A LITTLE INFO FROM ME. i softmoded my xbox I NEVER OPEN IT . NO
CHIP OR HARDMOD.. JUST SOFTMOD. I DO KNOW HOW TO OPEN XBOX.
and another small but i think i understand problem is ftp.. i download
flashfxp.. and using a router cat5 cable.. check firewall and i cant
connect.. I HEARD THAT ON MY XBOX SETTINGS DEFAULT GATWAY HAS
TO HAVE THE SAME NUMBER AS MY ROUTER IP ADDREASS IS THAT
TRUE? or why isnt my ftp working? I GUESS I HAVE COUPLE OF
PROBLEMS.. BUT LETS CONCENTRATE ON HDD FIRST.. THANKS IN

so ur hotswap is that way if i screwd up on softmod then i can restore it

ok so i think i decied what to do.. i mean whats the worst case that can

DONT UNDERSTAND OK HERE I GO COPIN N PASTIN STEPS ON HOW TO
**** UPGRADE HD WITH A PC****
Needed Tools:
1) xboxhdm 1.9
2) Torx 10 And Torx 20 Screwdrivers - To Open XBOX
3) A bigger Hardrive
4) FTP Program (flashfxp)
5) A PC ,blank CD-R/W and A CD Burner
6) evox dash (can be installed as an app)
7) DVDdecryptor
Steps:
this is where i am lost do i need C drive or the E drive or its saying to get
eeprom from either C n E drive? why do i need C and E drive to put on
my xboxhdm1.9? and if i put C n E drive will it all be the same as my old
xbox stock hdd? cuz i have problems w/my stock hdd that is why i got
this new one..
1. First take a backup from your retail disk (C,E drive and your eeprom) ,
you can use evox to backup eeprom.(eeprom backup can be found on E)
2. FTP your backup data to your pc using ftp program.
3. unpack xboxhdm onto your pc
and here it ONLY MENTIONS PUT EEPROM doesnt say anytin bout C n E drive
4. put the backup eeprom to the xboxhdm\linux\eeprom folder , put C
and E folder into the xboxhdm\linux folder and overwrite the ones already there.
overwrite the C n E on xboxhdm or what file do i overwrite?
5. In the root of xboxhdm is a file named 'make-iso-win', run this file and wait for it to finish.
6. It will make a .iso file. (burn this file with dvddecryptor)
7. take out all your hard disks in your pc and put the new hard disk (for the xbox) , make sure its primary master and first boot is cdrom.
8. put the disk you made in the cdrom drive and boot your pc .
9. you will get a menu,now choose Option 1 (by typing ‘1’) and press
enter to boot VGA console with xbox-drive utilities (default).
Type ‘xboxhd’ when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will
show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says ‘Build a new Xbox HD
from scratch’) and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc.
If you put your C:\ and E:\ onto the CD then when it asks you about
them type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes .
10. reboot your pc (we are almost done )
have to lock huh? if im not using chip...
now on the locking part.. when it says to type lockhd-a .. do i type
lockhd or lockhd-a or lockhd -a ? i dont understand
11. Now for locking the hard drive. This time type ‘3’ and hit enter to boot
linux with locking/unlocking utilities. Next, type in ‘lockhd -a’. It will now
search for the eeprom on the CD and will automatically lock the hard
drive. Now turn off the PC and take out the hard drive when it has
finished locking. Put the disk in your softmodded xbox .
put hdd on my xbox that has been softmoded? just take out old hdd n put new 1?
Nice you just upgraded your hard drive and can be used in your softmodded xbox !!!

Honestly, my eyes hurt trying to read that, lol. How about using the Enter key once in a while. Please edit it and make it a bit more readble.
From what I gathered you were asking a question about XboxHDM, unfortunately I haven't had any experience with it (due to never having to use it) so I can't really be of help, sorry.
PS: Please take note about what I said about the way you're posting, it deters a lot of people away from reading it.

allow me to answer in my own words.
1.- why would you need your C and E drives in linux\C and linux\E?
a.- cause if you don't have C files so the xbox can boot, it's no good.
it's up to you if you want to put retail MS Dash files on C, or modded C files,
however if you choose to make it like retail hdd, your only way to mod is via
gamesave exploit.
2.- you need eeprom.bin so you can lock that new hdd so the xbox can have
access to it without leading to an error 05!
Quick tutorial:\
-take what ever C and E you want, E is not needed if going retail.
-your eeprom.bin as well, and will go in linux\eeprom\ folder.
-build your iso, and burn with an iso burning program of choice.
-put your new hdd in a desktop computer on IDE1 primary master.
-no other hdds, just that 1 and your cd-rom of course.
-boot your linux disc and you'll go to choice 1, or 2.
now i'm gonna make it quicky, so if you want more detailed tutorial, i suggest you search for it.
-run choice 1 or 2, type="xboxhd", after you'll get 8 optoins, choose to build xbox hdd from scratch.
-if it asks about F partition, and that hdd is larger than 8 gigs, then choose yes.
-once you get that done, you'll type="reboot", system will go down, and will reboot to that disc again..
-now at main menu options with the 3 or 4 options, you'll select option 3 "linux with lock/unlock utilities"
-once your in it, you'll type="lockhd -a", the "-a" will create a hdd key from the eeprom.bin you stored in the disc, and it has to be same backed up from your xbox, or it will not work!.
-once that's done, it's should be ok, unless you get an error about not supporting ATA security system, but since it's a Maxtor, it should be fine.
-turn off PC, pop in new hdd to xbox, and it should boot to either MS dash if your linux\C folder had retail files, or your softmod of choice if you put softmod files on C and E.
that's about it, and plase don't use to many caps on your post, it hurts eyes sometimes.

um the xboxhdm1.9 doesnot have any files on c or e folder . is it soposed
to have files? ok since my xbox has softmoded c n e folders and i want
to start fresh what do i do? do i getms dash from pirrups signiture?
and if i make this new hdd work properly will i be able to use the old hdd?
just to check on the stuff or sometin e drive is mainly for what ?
softmoded stuff? +game saves ? or what is it for?

well i do have my 007 auf and action replay.. i just dont wanna keep my
same stuff damge old stock hdd. .so i would say i would start over .. from
scratch and then from there re softmod with sid.2.0 .. also since i'm trying
to put 200 gb hdd.. will it work? because i heard that i have to put a G or
F folder.. but that doesnt apply to me so i forget about that?

if i want my 200gb hdd to be like new when i first got my xbox then do i download ms dash off pirrups siginiture? then i put that on C folder on xboxhdm1.9 ? and then from there put my EEPROM and ready right???
if i screw this up durring the xboxhdm i heard that i screw up both my new hdd and my xbox hdd , since i'v be using my eeprom... IS THIS TRUE?

Just have your eeprom saved in a couple places so you always have a backup. If you d/l the ms-c then you will end up with a hdd that resembles a retail hdd.
If the process doesn't go right then since you have a backup of the eeprom and m$dash you can rebuild the iso.

if it can have the retail ms dash??? in other words can i go to pirrups
siginiture and download that ms dash then put it on xboxdhm1.9 on C
folder .... will that work? and on my E folder i just put my game saves
right??? i dont want any softmods to be there... i also have game burned
in hdd what would i do with taht? do i store it to pc then later once i have
the hdd with softmod i just drag it to E folder using ftp?
