OK. I'll try to keep it short.
I have softmodded a friends xbox(v1.6) with SID 4, all is good!
He has a 160Gb HDD i'm going to install for him.
I did some research in various threads, but im still not sure of the best way to go about it
Tools I have access to:
My Xbox (see sig for info)
PC (DVD Burner/FTP access, etc.)
AID v2.11 Final
Nknave's Disc.iso
XboxHDM v1.9
I am familiar with the process of backing up HDD key, eeprom etc, and their functions. I have used XboxHDM on a retail HDD, with F partition support. However, i'm not sure if it has G drive support.
Basically my question is this:
What is the best way to go about installing the above mentioned HDD (with SID4), and do I need the G partition?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Cool, good start. I think you'll need the PC (with FTP), AID 2.11.

Once the drive is set up to boot on the Xbox, you should be able to use AID to format G hopefully.

FIRSTLY!! BACKUP YOUR EEPROM ON YOUR CHIPPED BOX IF YOU WANT TO PLAY LIVE !!!
Obviously back up your eeprom of the box you want to softmod, hdd key etc. Put the 160gb in your chipped xbox and prepare it with AID (MS Dash and formatting, apps etc on E if needed). Then grab your eeprom from the box you want to softmod and use that to lock the drive. Once it's locked you should be able to put it in the xbox and it should work.
Check out Appendix G of the AID 2.11 manual, Softmodding with a chipped xbox.
Hope that helps you out mate....

Hey DJB,
thanks for the quick reply
I'll give that method a go, seems fairly straightforward.
Even if i fudge it up, I should be able to fix it as long as i have the eeprom backup, (coz i've had to put my chip in a mates xbox, with a new pinheader to run AID), Correct?
Thanks again, and merry christmas,
