hey guys
im really really new to the whole modding scene. i really want to get a modded xbox but i dont have a clue what all i need to get-r-done
my plan is to get an xbox duh
a nice chip that i can turn off so i can play xbox live
a 200-300 gb hd
and after that i dont know what i need to get so if u guys could be helpful enought to tell me what all i need to make thias happen please post up.
i dont know whether im in the right forum or not either but i dont really care all that much.

after you get the chip installed in the Xbox you will need to flash the chip with a hacked bios. then pop in the AutoInstaller Deluxe (available HERE or better yet through the VIP ftp servers) and have it format prepare the harddrive, and install any apps and emu's you want

hey thanks, are all hds universal, do i need a notebook hd?
oh and what chips can i turn off, do i need to buuy a special switch for that to work?
how do i get the flash for hack bios and the software?

Hard drives are universal (to a point). Now since you are talking about turning off a chip, I presume you are going to wish to be able to call up the M$ dash and perhaps use XBL. That means that whatever drive you choose, it needs to be lockable. There is a database here that will tell you what drives we have found are lockable. You would use a standard HDD not one for a notebook specifically. As far as a chip, either soldering or solderless, I always recommend the Xenium Ice or Spice if a 1.6 box. No special switches are needed. It's all based on the bios as to whether the chip is on or not. You can install more than one bios then select which one to boot. You might consider downloading AID to help with your modding (it has the bioses) and will allow you to install dashboards like my favorite XBMC. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I would say softmoding would be da fastest / eastiest way. ONLY hdd part would be A LIL bit tricky. as far as XBL well NEW SOFTMODS WILL alow u 2 use upgraded HDDS. such as SID 4 or nknave's new mod. i'll link later .

softmodding would be easier cuz with sid 4 u can swich dashboards by booting with tray in or out in is modded dash and out brings you to ms dash. and the older problems are all in the past if you want to try this go here

but if i am correct it will tell you to use sid3 DONT sid 4 knaves edition is best and has shitloads of safty features
if ur like i was a year ago comeing into this flying by the seat of my pants DO THE RESEARCH something always goes wrong the first time so have a game plan and KEEP A BACKUP OF UR EEPROM with that almost any mistake can be fixed

i agree since you are a noob no offenece, you should softmod with SID4 it works great and u can turn it off to play live as for the HD us xboxhdm1.9 to upgrade the HD _________________ Xbox V4
