I hope you can help.

I'm trying to find out whether my old Maxtor 5T040H4 40G hard drive is capable of ATA disk locking (I'm following Xenium Ice Guide).

The spec on the Maxtor HD is -

5T040H4
HDA - 24A
PCBA - 04A
Unique - 11A
DiamondMax Plus 60 7200 RPM
Manuf. 31 May 2001

Since there are also no jumper settings on the HD does anyone know where I might be able to find these?

I think I may have answered my own question. Tried new disk and copied everything across which worked fine but then went to lock disk and it said failed. Never mind, we have to make do with the original HDD for the time being.....Santa is coming soon (hopefully with a large HDD!).

I am assuming you play Live? Otherwise locking the drive is not necessary and really preferred. Look at it this way, your chip or MB dies and the HD is locked. You basically now have a 40g brick. It can be unlocked using a PC, maybe. Unlocked it's new chip or new box and go.

upgrading hdd is easy , prgrm 2 use xboxhdm1.9 just need EEPRON C dash files n ur set . BTW this method will be like retail IF u want ur xbox with what it has now THEN EVEN more simple JUST FTP ur C,E/tdata/udata , eepron AND ur set
