I have an Xbox that was made in 2002 that has a bad DVD laser, It still reads CD audio, but not DVD's. I have Splinter Cell, but the (Samsung) DVD drive won't read it, and AID 2.11 with the exploit files on the HDD.

My goal is to set up my Xbox with a large HDD, a PC DVD drive, and a softmod. Is this possible? Or do I need to get another DVD drive?

BTW: I'm a PC hardware guy with a soldering iron. So, if there is a way I'd really like to know what it is ... even if it's difficult.

Thanx in advance,
-Lee

then you will need to make an eeprom backup

a softmodded xbox or retail xbox needs a locked hd (with the eeprom)

So, your saying that, I could hotswap the retail drive, backup the eprom, connect the new HDD, and build a new image with the eprom backup and any other software that I want, then lock that Hdd and put it into the Xbox?

If that is correct what files would I put where on the new HDD?
Or is there a Softwre package that can build the image for me? (Please?) Smile

Or, do I need to Softmod the retail HDD first to make the eprom backup?

I finally found the right files to use HDM 1.9 to softmod.

NOW can anyone tell me what I need to do to upgrade to a PC DVD drive?
Or is it possible to install and use a DVD burner in my XBox?
(That would be really F Cool cking slick!)

Well, WTF is the point of doing that???
I guess I'll just have to write my own program to burn disks on the XBox! It's gonna take a while though...I need to learn how to write programs first.

1.- you can hotswap to softmod xbox, and then backup eeprom and make new hdd and lock it.

2.- you can write this program to burn games from xbox using a dvd-r, the questions really is, how your gonna make isos, and how are you gonna manage to do it?

2.- using a dvd burner or any other pc device, wont' allow you to read original xbox games, nor the backups, in a certain way, just data, video, and audio.

3.- wasting time in programing a software that will never work, is not worth it.

4.- wanna program something?

I'm looking for a File Manager that supports all Format types, allowing us to take fatX files, or any other Fat, or NTFS, from USB to another USB that has different format, and/or the xbox fatx hdd. << this is perfect for Ipods, usb sticks, usb media players and stuff, and will make it easier to manage files on any usb supported device.

Do this, and i'll reward you with some good stuff Wink
