as the title explains my 160 gig hdd is showing me that it only has the 120. I know that i can re-format it and change the code i can make it 160 gig - but the problem is i have uploaded sooo much data onto it I dont want to erase the hdd. So thy question is this: how can i get the extra space without refomatting the hdd?
Cheers

Yup! It's the bios you chose. You'll need one that supports LBA48 and allows for the larger drive. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Shark2th,
I'm having the same problem. My newly installed 250 gb hd is showing as a 120 gb hd on my softmod xbox.
What is the easiest way to switch your bios?
Edit: I just realized that the suggestions above may be related to a "Chipped" xbox. I need to find out how to accomplish this on my softmodded box. I know that Softmods are not your area of expertese Shark2th -- can anyone eles help?
Thanks again for all of your help!

Hey Fripp1. It all really depends on the chip that your using. If you'd let me know what chip, I can get you the proper instructions. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Hey Shark. I think I edited my reply the same second you replied back.
You are too quick!
Anyhow, see the edit above. Long story short: I'm working with a softmodded box.
Thanks again!

Start the lights and scan the skies. This looks like a job for DANGERMOUSE!!!
Here I come to save the daaaayyy!!!...sorry wrong mouse
For the softmod, use AID to format the g: partition and be sure to enable it in EvoX.
Now for the chipped boxes...shed some light for me. I'm not savvy on the x2 or 3 bios's but on the EvoX bios's I was under the impression that the ones that were labeled wit h 137 will recognize the larger hdd's. Is that right? _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

It may be that simple to distinguish dangermouse but honestly the only ones I keep in memory are the proven 4982,4983,5001,5002 bioses. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Thanks Dangermouse. I'll try that when I get home. Do you have to do anything special to "enable" the G: drive in evox?
Thanks again for the assist!

If you scroll down the system settings in EvoX, you'll find the option to use the g: partition. All you have to do is select "yes". _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

One little tid for the Evox bios. There are many pre-edited out there for download, and occasionally the edit doesn't hold and has to be re-edited. I don;t know if it depends on the Version of Evtool or what, but it is always a good idea to re-edit when a bios doesn't work the first time. _________________ 1.6b, Xenium !ce OS 2.3.0, External 160g WD, External 250g Seagate, Double blade UFO Fan over Jewel
