Xbox v 1.0 or 1.1 I forget.
Matrix modchip (oldschool pogo pin) Two actually.
Both work fine.
160gb western digital
Running media X menu
modded for 3 years until now

So I was in Evox getting ready to use the AID211 disc and I noticed the name of my xbox was what my friend made it quite a long time ago before I could even think about modding an xbox. So I changed it in Evox. BIG MISTAKE. Rebooted the xbox through evox and nothing. Didn't change or touch anything else and I have no idea what I did. I get three repeated reboots but on the third reboot light flashes red and green with no display. Same thing happens without modchip and with mod chip. Hard drive in currently is larger drive.

More experienced fellas help me out please. Smile Ladies too Smile

i dont see how changing your xbox name would affect anything like this at all.. Personally it sounds like the machine has been flashed or the flash has gone wrong..

When you remove the modchip what error codes do you get on the screen?? Or arent you getting any still like you said earlier?? Let us know as much as possible.

Quote:
1.Green/Red Flashing:
Problem: The Xbox will restart twice, and then flash red and green. This is known as the FRAG and can be caused by many reasons. Typically when you receive this error you will not have any video. Possible reasons you may get this is a bad bios image, a bad bios chip, the Nvidia MCPX chip is damaged, broken/damaged traces or solder splashes on the mother board.

Fix: If you were doing any kind of soldering work (adding a Modchip or other type of mod) on or around your motherboard, make sure there are no solder splashes or that there are not solder bridges connecting any traces. If there are, desolder them. If you have not done any kind of modding to the unit, then its likely to be caused from a bad tsop image, or a bad chip. Try installing a Modchip to see if you can get the unit to boot. If the Xbox still gives a FRAG then it means another major component is bad and the motherboard needs to be replaced.

The flashing colour errors all mean something.. Ill link you to our error codes sections that will help you sort it out.. Of course if other members have any idea they will reply.. Just keep your topic active.

enjoy the site and im sure you will get your box fixed..

From all the reading and all my experience you're absolutely right. It should just be a bad flash but I have two chips and the last time I used both they were both fine. As I mentioned I was in evox and alls I did in there last night was backup my eeprom and whatever else is in the backup and then change the name of the xbox for instance the original was noodle and the my friend made it zipxavier's pwns machine or something stupid so lol I wanted to change it and I did. Rebooted witht the evox reboot and bam, nothing.

Trying with the mod chip trys to boot three times and no display.(At this stage I didnt touch any of the internals at all, modchip light was green for go but system itself wasn't stabe.)

Trying without the mod chip trys to boot three time no display. Its the same problem without it with no error message which baffles me because usually an unchipped box with a larger hd will give you an error message unless its softmodded which this isn't.

I know it's going to have no effect but I unplugged it and pressed the power switch making sure all the juice is out and I'm gunna let it sit for the day.(I'm wishful thinking)

All my wires are checked, again I didnt touch anything. Going to try swaping power cable and or video cable. That's all I got though.

with your modchip installed make sure it is flashed with a HACKED bios like the EVOX M8 bios for your xbox version..

If its flashed you should be able to boot directly into the AIdeluxe main menu.. If you still cant get your machine to boot with a modchip/bios fitted then you may have some more homework to do..

goodluck with it and let us know how you go too!
