When transfering files to my xbox, it will sometimes fail to send a file, and say "connection closed, file opening failed." This is in FlashFXP, but it has a similar error in filezilla and smartftp. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the file name (lenth or characters). Also, it doesn't happen every time with each file that has the error. Some, if I set the retries to something like 10 or 15, will eventually manage to transfer 100% and finish (some get to 100% and fail anyway). I've tried renaming them to something really small and simple like x.(extension), but that didn't work.
Here's exactly what it says with each file:
[R] PASV
[R] 502 pasv is not implemented
[R] PORT 192,168,1,8,14,230
[R] 200 Port command ok.
[R] SOTR X
[R] 150 Opening BINARY data connection for C:\fonts\X
[R] 426 Connection closed, file opening failed.
[R] Transfer Failed!
[R] TYPE A
[R] 200 Type set to ASCII.
[R] PASV
[R] 502 pasv not implemented.
[R] PORT 192,168,1,8,14,232
[R] 200 Port command ok.
[R] List -al
[R]150 Opening ASCII data connection for Is /C/fonts/.
[R] 226 free disc space under this direction: 369.541.120
[R] List complete 246 bytes in 0.06 seconds (3.0 KB/s)
Transfer queue completed
1 File failed to transfer
Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Hey Kristofenpheiffer,
In flashFXP, goto options, preferences, transfer. Make sure transfer mode is set to "AUTO". See if that helps. _________________

Nope. I got excited cause the first one worked, but that was just a fluke, still the same problem with the rest of the files.

What program are you running on your xbox?
If you have evo try using that while you are transferring data

This sounds like a network hardware issue. You either have a bad/poor cable or are getting collisions on your hub/router. Can you give us some details about what your exact network setup is? For example, what is the IP address of your PC, what OS are you running on it, are there ANY other devices on your network, are you connected directly to the XBox with a cross over cable or is it through a hub or router?

i've used a wireless network conection (Intel Pro Wireless Network Adapter) in my laptop, and an ethernet connection(Broadcom 10/100 Ethernet Adapter) to router(Netgear WGT624 V3), which connects to the xbox via ethernet cable. Win xp, 192.168.1.8 - laptop, 192.168.1.3 - xbox. and most files transfer just fine, it's only a few of these files that won't transfer, and sometimes they do(i managed to get about 60% of them to transfer over by setting the retries to 150 and letting it run over night), so this really seems wierd to me.
I can check the cables tonight; I'll be getting some crossover cables, cause I want a faster transfer rate, and I only own 2 ethernet cables.

Hum...I'd try to take the wireless connection out of the equation (you may be getting some interferrance). Like you said, if you can get a cross over cable, and go straight from the laptop to the XBox, you should be good. Those IP addresses should be fine with that netmask. If this fixes your intermittant problem, you really need to work on your wireless network to get better signal. Does it indicate good signal on your wireless???

I think you are highlighting are your files on the D drive and draging them over to your PC. You need to open the D drive and and create a folder on your PC for th files to go in and make sure at the top of flash fxp you click transfer selected. I had the same problem and that took care of the problem. If you have any problems let me know
