hi all,

I recently purchased a modded xbox and things were good til I upgraded my avalaunch dashboard, and somehow my EEPROM got screwed up... I can still play with mod chips on, but I when I boot with mod chip off I get a black screen of death, and the HD LED is bright red. I know for some reason my HD is unlocked and didnt go back to the lock state, so I need to restore that state back to lock. Avalaunch has a feature to toggle the HD lock/unlock, but when I click on it, it doesnt do anything. I know for sure some of the files are corrupted, good thing is I can still FTP and access with mod chip on with np. I didnt get much help from the xbox-scene.com forums, so I hope some of u gurus can help me out.

I dont' see how the eeprom can get screwed up from avalaunch or any other dashboard for that matter.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the only way to program the eeprom was to remove it and program it with some type of programmer.

Can someone let me know if I am correct on that, I'd like to be sure.

If I am not misaken, we just had another post almost identical to this one. I'll look around and see what type of assistance was given.

Since you are a VIP member, you an also submit a VIP ticket. I would do that as some of our more knowledgable admins will see the Tickets before they see a post. Sometimes, posts are missed, but Tickets aren't.

It actually to me sounds as if your msdash is messed up.

Good luck and keep us posted.

ok,

I could be wrong on the EEPROM, but I guess my MS Dashboard file is messed up. I ran config Magic and it tells me I have an "invalid xbox version". If anyone knows how to resolve this, please help me out.

Thanks in advance...

The only way you can flash your XBOX MAINBOARD EEPROM is to soldier the 2 x flash points on the XBOX motherboard.. Smile Then you would just flash it like normal using either EVOX, AVALAUNCH etc..

Im guessing you have just deleted a few files on your XBOX C: DRIVE which is causing the ERROR..

i would do this:
1. Download Xbox-Hq Auto Installer V1.1
2. Burn the iso to CDRW/DVD-R
3. Put it in your xbox and boot it
4. Choose upgrade evox
5. thats it..
6. It will copy all the require files.
7. Now you should use config magic once it boots normally and lock your NEW HDD..

that should get you out of trouble mate..

take care

cheers

sorry to butt in!

do you have too lock you new HDD?

I put in an 80gb, out of my PC i want to be able to take it back out and use it on my PC(mac), if i upgrade to a larger HDD.

What are the pros to locking the HDD. Is it easy to unlock.

I have a Retail drive that can not be unlocked. We tryed with the Hq boot disc. it would not install or unlock. so i bought i 120 and put it in my PC(mac) then used my old 80gb for the XBox, But enough is never enough. So i might put a bigger HDD in still.

i don't want to lock my-self out of my 80gb HDD.
